The theme will be the “Power of Positivity”. Each morning (7:30-8:00am) there will be movement instructors (Tai Chi, Yoga, Weight-training, Zumba, Hip-Hop Dance) offering free classes for students and teachers. Each afternoon there will be guest speakers to focus on mental and emotional wellbeing (Mindfulness, Stress Management, Resiliency, Chinese Medicine).

For added flavor, the owner and entrepreneur of Lizzy’s Smoothies will be on campus each day selling healthy snacks. This will be an exciting time to promote health and raise awareness of the importance of a connected mind, body and spirit for a holistic approach to wellbeing.

Parents are invited to all seminars.

Message from the VP/DP Coordinator

You roll over, puzzled. “Who set the alarm this early? It’s still dark outside!” You pull the blanket over your head in frustration when you realise that it isn’t a trick, but the onset of winter. November can be a tough time for students when the changing weather can influence their mood and school work seems to get harder and greater in volume. In some ways this might be true - for the past 2-3 months teachers have been developing new skills and expanding knowledge within the classroom and are now looking for evidence of student development through summative assessment ahead of the December reports. For our Seniors there is also the additional workload associated with finalising IB assessments and completing college applications. For many teenagers, this may be the most stressful experience they have encountered and are still developing personal strategies for balancing these pressures. Through our Approaches To Learning skills that are embedded in the IB programmes we work with students in areas such as time-management, self-motivation, and resilience. We also strive to be positive role models for

PAFA Connect

Thank you for a fantastic International Food Fair!  We would like to give a very special thank-you to the country ambassadors, country volunteers, the student volunteers, and all the support staff for their extra efforts to make the IFF a great success. And, we appreciate all the support and donations provided by our sponsors and parents.

It was a great community event that helped raise money for enrichment activities for all of our students. In the next two weeks PAFA will let you know the final tally of funds raised. THANK YOU!

students and encourage our families and community to continue to support their children. Our counselling team are always willing to provide advice and strategies so feel free to contact them any time. Message from the MYP Coordinator

It is with great excitement that I announce that late last week the IB office in Singapore confirmed our readiness to take part in the MYP verification process. We will be expecting our IB appointed visiting team in May 2017! At this time in May, we will no doubt impress the visiting/assessing team with all of our wonderful and inspiring MYP work.

Congratulations to all the members of our community. In particular, I would like to thank the amazingly dedicated and committed teachers of SCIS for all their work in this time of transition.

Message from the High School Counselor

Warwick has 23 years business and facilitating experience. In the past, he has worked with large corporates including adidas, BOSCH, BASF, IKEA, LOREAL, Unilever, Pepsico, Microsoft, HP, BCG, KPMG, and HSBC. FRIDAY – GPSA info session (A211 @ 9:15).

Global Public Service Academies is for your child if they are interested in obtaining first hand experience in public health, medicine, non-profit work, and humanitarian efforts. GPSA is a professional, four-week medical summer experience. Students live, work and learn in the community in which they are helping. Everyday students will study the language and culturally competent healthcare with extraordinary faculty and students from around the world. Participants will put their training to the test in a rural clinic, helping those in need. You might vaccinate against polio one day, training mothers on proper hygiene the next, witness a birth, or helping the clinic expand its facilities the following day. Website: www.gpsa.org
