In the life of every great organization, there comes a period of immense change, a
stage of transition and transformation. Sandals Royal Caribbean is currently in that
stage. The next few months will see the introduction of 14 Grand Luxury Butler Suites
with tranquility Soaking Tubs housed in our Edinburgh Building as well as major
refurbishing of bathrooms on Sandringham and Windsor and the repainting of
Arundel and Canarvan.
In a matter of week’s Sandals Resorts International will break ground for the creation
of the Caribbean’s first over-the-water suites just off our very own Sandals Private
Island. This announcement has turned the spotlight back on Sandals Royal
Caribbean, the local and international press are buzzing over these latest plans and
the international travel community is clamoring to get their clients into what will
inevitably be the Caribbean’s most sort-after suites. The creation of over-the-water
suites has been a dream of our CEO for some time now and with an investment of
US$5.5 million, this dream is about to become a reality.
For years Sandals Royal Caribbean has been known for providing world-class, luxury included service. Ranked in the top five of 63 hotels in Montego Bay, we have been able to hold our own within a diverse and constantly expanding market, despite our aging property. With these long-awaited improvements and on-trend additions, we will now have a plant to match the high level of service that you, our team members provide.
“Let’s share in the
excitement of what is to
come”

I recognize how difficult the adverse working conditions that accompany a transition of this magnitude can be and I extend sincere thanks and appreciation to those team members at the heart of the house who continue to work assiduously under less-than-ideal conditions. Thank you to those team members at the front of the house who remain dedicated to helping our clients adjust to this period of transition. Together, you are the true heroes of Sandals Royal Caribbean. You are simply amazing, much like our 2013 Team Member of the Year, Earl Cummings. As we go through these early stages of transformation, I urge you to bear with us, I invite you to look with me into the light at the end of the tunnel, let's focus on that light, let's share in the excitement of what is to come. Let's get excited for a product that exceeds guests’ expectations and offers more of that luxury-included experience for two people in love, let's get excited for higher occupancy levels, a greater return rate, higher revenues and ultimately for more money in our pockets. Let's be proud for being a part of something that this industry has never seen before. Finally, congratulations to the PR department for the creation of the WIZZ Magazine. In our premiere issue you'll read more about the expansion to come, you'll share in the story of our Team Member of the year; you'll gain insight into grooming standards, share in the hidden talents of our team members and take a look back at some of what we have accomplished over the past two months. I invite you to utilize this new outlet to share your stories and your views and get excited about all the things that make us special.

Soon Come Back Agent, Kemeasha Ellis, is an artist, and for her a clean face is like a blank canvas...one to transform into absolute perfection. "When I wear make-up it gives me added confidence; it's a reflection of how I'm feeling," says Kemeasha, "make-up is my art, it's my passion, it’s how I express myself and I enjoy trying new looks and transforming faces."
Kemeasha's motto is "Wake up & Make up" and today she’s got Tiffany from the Soon Come Back desk in her chair. Tiffany’s face is that canvas; let’s watch as Kemeasha goes to work at creating her masterpiece.

foundation from the center of your face outwards 4. Apply concealer to cover up under eye dark circles or any little imperfections 5. Apply setting powder immediately after so concealer doesn't crease Setting powder should be a shade lighter than your regular powder

With over 20 years in his
field, Earl’s experience
and knowledge is exten-
sive, but his passion for engineering actually extends
well beyond 1996 when he joined the Sandals Royal
team. “I studied electrical engineering at Montego Bay
Secondary School, now St. James High,” says Earl, who
was fortunate enough to land a job as a Junior Technician at ATL
at only 18. “Being a part of the team [company] that started it all
taught me the fundamentals of the Butch Stewart philosophy
including the importance of customer satisfaction and the value
of quality service and workmanship.”
While at ATL Earl developed rapidly and received several
awards including Junior Technician of the year for the ATL Group
in 1993.
It was after leaving ATL and while working as a freelance
contractor that Earl became familiar with the hospitality industry
and was offered a job by then Chief Engineer at Sandals Royal
Caribbean, Tony Anglin, inevitably opening a new chapter in his
life. “I was hired as one of two Serveydine Technicians responsi-
ble for the servicing and repair of all equipment on property.”
The many awards that he has racked up over the past 18
years is testament to Earl’s excellent work ethic and the value
that he brings to the engineering team and the resort. “If I’m do-
ing a task, it has to be done to the best of my ability because my
job and what I produce is a reflection of me so I always endeavor
to put out a hundred percent,” says Earl. “You have to hold your
job in high regard and recognize that no matter how large or
small your task, getting it done properly is vital to ensuring cus-
tomer satisfaction and adding value to the overall guest experi-
ence. It is by valuing our jobs and staying true to our purpose
that we find the greatest happiness and success.”
SPOTLIGHT An eternal optimist who is as jovial and hardworking as he is dedi-
cated to his purpose, Sandals Royal Caribbean’s Prestige Team
Member of the year, Earl Cummings, embodies the Ultimate Team
Member.
Currently, the 40 year old Senior AC Technician is responsible for
the care and maintenance of kitchen equipment, refrigerators, cold
rooms and AC Units in all offices, public spaces and 197 guest
rooms. “In the engineering department we run a tight shift, every-
body does a little of everything,” says Earl. So of course, six days a
week, he also lends his hand to plumbing, electrical and woodwork
jobs, basically, whatever is required to keep his department and
resort running like a well-oiled machine.
Being a part of the team [company] that started it all taught
me the fundamentals of the Butch Stewart philosophy
including the importance of customer satisfaction and the
value of quality service and workmanship.

Oftentimes dubbed as the ‘go-to’ man of the engineering team,
once he is clocked in you’ll see Earl traversing the property like
superman in pursuit of code sixes and adding his muscle to his
team’s efforts. But it’s the things that he does when no one is
watching that has won Earl the hearts of his fellow colleagues.
“Earl is very creative and good at building things so team
members often ask him to build mini structures for their kids’
school projects,” says Devon Gordon, chief engineer at Sandals
Royal Caribbean, “and of course, Earl never says ‘no’. He’s always
willing to ‘help a situation’ and you can be guaranteed of that wow
factor when he’s finished.”
“One of the amazing things about Earl is his genuine love
for people. No matter how busy he is, he always finds time to say
hello and ask how you’re doing, sometimes several times for the
day,” says Owen Henry, Human resources manager. “He is very
intuitive. That’s not something you see every day and that’s not
something you can teach either.”
A soft-spoken gentleman, Earl shatters the glass ceiling on
how Engineers are generally perceived. It is for this reason that he
is often put in charge of training new employees and trainees
within his department. “I’m always happy to take them [trainees]
on, it gives me a great sense of accomplishment knowing that I’ve
been a part of someone’s development by imparting my
knowledge,” Earl says. “I always encourage them to take the job
seriously but also make it fun.”
There are those team members who fall in place and do an
excellent job. Then there are those who have found a way to
surpass excellence and become phenomenal. They are the glue
that holds the team together; they put the humanity back into the
operation and the SOPs; they put everything in perspective and at
Sandals Royal Caribbean, Earl Cummings one of those persons..
We would like to wish Earl all the very
best as he goes off August 17-22 for a
week of Ultimate Award activities at
Sandals Grande Riviera
Make us Proud Earl!

Sandals Resorts has unveiled incredible new renderings of
the innovative, construction project planned for Sandals
Royal Caribbean Spa Resort & Offshore Island. Sure to be a
sensation, the Luxury Included® resort is set to add stunning
Maldivian-style over-the-water suites to its private offshore
island.

tub and shower, a hammock for two hanging over the water,
and steps leading from the sundeck straight into the ocean.
The breathtaking interiors will boast 1,600 square feet of
space, with a large walk in shower and indoor soaking tub. To
enable guests to fully embrace the suite’s ‘over-the-water’
setting, the living area will feature glass flooring, allowing
them to view the clear water and marine life below – which
will even be lit for night viewing.
All of the suites will also include personal butler service,
courtesy of Sandals Resorts’ exclusive partnership with the
Guild of Professional English Butlers.
The resort’s private island, the setting for the fantastic
