“ somewhere over the rainbow,

there’s a land that i dreamed of, once in a lullaby.”

Those familiar words and the poignant melody, sung by a Kansas farm girl to her dog strike a chord

with most Americans. It isn’t just that the film played throughout most of our childhoods.

Dorothy is the embodiment of how Americans hang on; her tough Midwest family scraping out a living against incredible forces, keeping body and soul to-gether, is what many people do every day.

Dorothy’s dream is our dream, es-pecially during these difficult eco-

nomic and ruinous spiritual times. We long to find that place that promises the things we only ever dared to dream about.

A dream for our life to have ad-venture, a little risk, good friends and a real purpose, one that sat-isfies the heart, the mind, and is lived with courage.

Working with young students; we have no crystal ball, there will be great joy and terrible loss. We are fortunate to be part of their life, remembering that the dream is never really a place, it is the journey.

Avery MossMAnAvery is a freshman at City, he enjoys acting, singing, and Jazz Band.

This is his first City High production.

eMily MerritEmily is a sophomore at City who enjoys dance, friends, Drumline,

and singing. This is her first City High Production, debuting as munchkin and a monkey.

rAchel FehrRachel is a sophomore who chaotically attempts to divide her time

between band, choir, academics, volunteering, and theater. She was in Evita, Almost Maine, and Various combined efforts productions.

Mikiel curtisMikiel gets involved in any activity that involves movement. Oz is the

most, let’s say, magical place I’ve lived in, and I’ll miss once I move back home.

MelissA MelloyMelissa is extremely excited for her first City High show. She’d like

to thank the cast, crew, and the audience. Hope you Enjoy!

Mike sobAskiAs Munchkin Mayor, Mike would like to thank all the little people.

JAson MillsApJason is extremely excited to end his City High mainstage career with a bang. Jason cannot wait to continue his theater training when he

attends Drake University next fall as a Musical Theater Major. Thanks to all his wonderful directors! Enjoy your trip down the yellow brick

kAtherine sMithKatherine is a sophomore. She would like to dedicate her perfor-

mance to the original munchkin coroner, who passed away April 14, 2010.

sArA MildenstineSara is a sophomore at City who enjoys singing, dancing, and acting. As understudy for Dorothy, Sara finally realized her affinity for ador-

able poppies!

MichAel soteloMichael is an established acting upperclassman who has been in 6

City High productions and will go to California for his achievements in NFL Speech.

sAge behr Sage is a sophomore who has participated in Evita, Almost Maine,

and Allstate Large Group Speech. She enjoys English, Spanish, piano and acting.

clAudiA nAgyClaudia is a sophomore who likes just about everything and everyone

except for math.

JAMes WillgingJames is a freshman at City and this is his first production. He enjoys

singing, dancing, as well as his friends.

AlexAndrA perezAlexandra is a freshman here at City High. She has had a great expe-

rience in The Wizard of Oz.

christinA sullivAnChristina is a freshman this year and has greatly enjoyed being in Wizard of Oz . Much thanks to the crew for not dropping me!

JAson ArnoldHas had a great time being a crow! CAW! CAW! He would like to

thanks his friends for being a great crow inspiration!

AMAndA gerArdis a freshman at City High. This is her first production at City and she

has really enjoyed the experience.

rAquel loyARaquel is a freshman at City High. She enjoys all forms of art. Other

than Oz, Raquel is also involved in an improve group.

chuck FosterChuck is writing this bio between scenes because Rica is very intimi-

dating and threatened to kick me if didn’t write it right now!

Frederica kenyon Rica has been very involved in Community and High School Theater for four years. She plans to study theater in college and hopes to be-come a director when she’s all grown up. Also, Rica would like to note

that she did NOT threaten to kick Chuck (see Chuck Foster’s Bio).

norA holMAn Nora is a freshman and this is her second City High production. She’s

uber excited! Happy birthday Alex! Break a leg!Rai Parfait- is a sweet, layered something or other; one part star lit

for every two parts tid bit, and teaspoon of irrationality. Chill before serving.

tAreq AbuissATareq’s first words were “tin” and “man”; he has spent his life trying to fulfill this boyhood dream. He plans to study neuroscience or music com-position in college, pursue an advantaged degree is something completely unrelated , and ultimately teach cello lessons out of his parent’s basement.

sarah dvorskyI love singing. I love dancing. I love acting. But most of all I love being

a crow. Caw! Thanks Doug, Janet, and Mr. Peters!

liAn MArkovichLian enjoys monkeying around on stage, defying gravity, and is prob-

ably the only monkey who hates bananas very, very much.

MichAel gloerMichael is a freshman who involves himself in many athletic and artsy

activities, and loves living in Oz.

deondre earseryMy name is Deondre Earsery… I love to sing and dance but of all I

love to dance. I like participating in showchior and musicals. I also do dance lessons and horseback riding lessons. I also love dancing and the

adrenaline I get from dancing or anything I do!

heidi broWnHeidi Brown is super duper excited!

dAvid MAizeDavid is just a silly freshman that loves to fly.

Sophie Neems has a hard time describing herself in 25 words or less. (12) She loves monkey wing making, sparkles, tap dancing, and munch-

kins.Thanks lovely family. (25!)

AndreW WilkesAndrew Wilkes is a Senior and feels bittersweet leaving the Opstad

stage. For the past 4 years he has acted there, and while he’ll only be a stone’s throw away at the U of I next year, he will miss his friends and

directors very very much. Thank you.

alannah walterhouSe Alannah is a sophomore and loves acting! She really loves the directors

at City for letting her be a part of the amazing show here.

Sean SMithSean Smith believes is art and as Tree #2, to fully live up to his role, he limited his food intake to strictly photosynthesis.

CoaDY SierraThis is her first time in a City High production. She is planning to

attend Iowa State in the fall. She would like to thank Doug, Janet, Mr. Peters and her family for letting her be a part of this amazing experi-

ence.

BJorn hoVlanDBjorn has played a wide host of wholesome, upstanding characters, in-cluding a pimp, a totalitarian dictator, and a fraud. He has loved every minute of his time in the program, and he would like to thank Doug

and Janet for putting up with him.
