The Rector’s Chat
The Holy Trinity Explained:
Bishop Margaret’s message at the launch of the Workbook for Theological education and Ministerial Formation
May this book help us to become daring witnesses of Christ and effective instruments in spreading the Good News of Jesus, bringing warmth, light and love to all. It is my prayer that this book will get into the hands of our young people. We rely on them to revitalise the established church. We are open to encouragement and newness of life. It is our desire that the various stages of clergy development outlined in this book will give believers an understanding of servanthood, of compassion and how to use their God-given spiritual gifts and ministry
passions. To order a copy of the workbook at R50 per book, please contact: [email protected]

Reduce worshippers to 50 or less, Bishops urged
As the “third wave” of Covid-19 infections hits a number of South African dioceses entering
the winter months, Archbishop Thabo Makgoba’s Covid Advisory Team is urging that
congregations should be limited to 50 people or less.
The team is also urging all Anglicans to be vaccinated when vaccines become available.
Among other recommendations:
“Decrease the number of people at all services to a maximum of 50, if the church is able to
accommodate 50 people within the COVID guidelines. In the event that the building is
smaller and not able to accommodate 50 people then to a maximum of 50% of the capacity
of the building.” The maximum number of 50 to include the priest and worship parties.
“Social distancing of 1,5 meters has to be enforced even for members of the same family, as
if they are allowed to sit together, then the 1,5m distance between them and other
worshippers is not being maintained.”
Every service must have 2 dedicated COVID compliance officers who will ensure that: a. A
register and contact details is taken at every service. (These need to be kept safely and may
only be destroyed seven(7) months after the State of Disaster has been lifted.) All
individuals coming into the building are screened, including the priest, lay ministers and
altar servers. Masks to be worn at all times, covering the mouth and nose. Hand sanitizers to
be used upon entry to the church. The Church must be well ventilated g. Church mics, pulpit
and lectern must be sanitized after each use. h. No singing allowed. i. Communion in one
kind only.
Phase two vaccination roll out
On Monday at Brooklyn Chest Hospital Bishop Margaret and Archbishop Emeritus Tutu were
inoculated as part of the ten Religious Leaders on the first day of the phase two rollout.
