About WISA

Information

The Water Institute of Southern Africa (WISA) was formed in 1987 when the Southern African branch of

the Institute of Water Pollution Control originally founded in 1937, was disbanded. At the beginning of

2000, WISA was incorporated as a Non Profit Company (Section 21) under the Companies Act of 2008.

This means that WISA shall use its funds and assets solely to further its stated aims and objectives and

no funds or assets shall be distributed to any other person or body. WISA has also been recognised as

a Professional Body by SAQA in 2013.

Currently the Institute has approximately 3300 members and is growing steadily on an annual basis.

The Institute embodies a multidisciplinary approach, and as such, members are drawn from all spheres

of employment and varying disciplinary backgrounds.

The biennial WISA Conference and Exhibition will take place at the Durban ICC from 15-19 May 2016.

The conference covers a wide range of innovative water topics in a number of parallel sessions and

workshops, and therefore promises to welcome a record number of national and international delegates

and exhibitors (typically over 1500 attendees).

Most South African water industry decision makers attend WISA conferences, thus providing an

unrivalled forum for exhibitors and sponsors to gain exposure. Some of the opportunities are attached,

and others may be available through negotiation and acceptance by the organizing committee.

The sponsorship amounts are based on estimated actual cost to the conference and are subject to

change. Partial or joint sponsorship is possible on various items. We look forward to your valued

participation and contribution to the success of this event.
