MooN PHASE

The Calendar must be set for this feature to work (see Clock/ Calendar section).

In the Northern hemisphere, the moon waxes (amount of moon we see that grows after the New moon) from the right. So, the sunlit part of the moon moves from right to left in the Northern hemisphere while in the Southern hemisphere, it moves from left to right. The direction depends on the latitude of the person observing it.

The moon phase on this unit is suited only for the Northern hemisphere. For users living in the Southern hemisphere, the moon phase diagram will appear incorrect (inverted). The moon phase diagram has to be rotated 80° to correspond with the moon seen from their perspective.

Below are two tables which diagrammatically illustrate how the moon will appear on the main unit and its equivalent if seen in the night sky from the Southern hemisphere.
