Winter Vacations to Oahu and Embassy Suites Waikiki - Places to See and Things To DoAre you looking to get out of the cold weather? Why not take a winter vacation to the sunny paradise of the island of Oahu. One of the most famous places here is Waikiki where it is plenty to see and do that will surely chase the winter chills away.

Enjoy the majestic beauty of the humpback whales as they romp and play in the warm ocean water. They arrive from the Alaskan seas by the thousands to give birth in the warm ocean. The humpback whales tend to come close to shore during this time and you can take a boat tour or watch them from the shore.

There is also lots of surf action on Oahu’s North Shore. During the winter months, the swells are enormous and professional surfers from all over the world gather to watch the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational or Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing. You can also choose to go golfing, take a helicopter tour, or even skydive.

A myriad of treasures await you in Waikiki. The pristine water, the white sandy beaches and of course, world class shopping. Here you will be delighted by shops that carry brands such as Hermes, Tiffany & Co. as well as Gucci. The International Marketplace has artisan stands as well as over 130 shops. There is also the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center that can entertain you with their upscale restaurants and over 100 retail shops. Also, in close proximity, is the Ala Moana Shopping Center.

Of course, who can forget about the sun and fun you will enjoy at the many beaches that are located in Hawaii? The city beaches of Waikiki are alive with the hustle and bustle of vacationers and locales alike. The beach area in front of the zoo is flat with many waves; it is quite popular for those who want to go where

it is less crowded. Snorkeling is great near Kapahula Avenue. Here you will see tropical fish as well. For the little ones, there is a wave-free area. This is located at the end of Uluniu Avenue. Here you will find great sand for sand castle building! The area in front of the Sheraton Moana Hotel offers you a nice beach area to play in as well as some shade from the sun. This area is often quite busy during the day and thins out in the afternoon.
