Physical & Productivity Benefits Validated.Headsets proven to reduce muscle tension up to 41%!Results of a study conducted at Santa Clara ValleyMedical Centre in San Jose, CA, provide strongevidence that office and telephone professionalscan reduce neck, shoulder and upper backmuscle tension as much as 41% by usingheadsets.

During a three month study, 62 people (33 womenand 29 men), ranging from 20 to 63 years old,were involved in tests that evaluated the variouslevels of muscle tension resulting when officeworkers engage in other tasks while using thetelephone. Study participants, all of whom usedthe telephone a minimum of three hours a day,were employed in a variety of professions fromattorneys, reporters and consultants to smallbusiness owners, sales and customer support,engineering and financial operations.

In the first half of the study, participants wereasked to use a conventional handset whileperforming a series of tasks including reading,note taking and typing on a computer. In thesecond half, participants used a Plantronicsheadset over phone handsets, providing the firstscientific evidence that validates the physicalbenefits of headsets in reducing neck and upperback muscle tension. In today’s demanding workenvironments, employers and employees alikecan benefit from using headsets, resulting in lowermedical costs and happier, more productiveworkers.

Plantronics headsetsimprove workplaceefficiency and productivityby up to 43%!In a commissioned study, the firm of H.B. Maynard& Co concluded that adding hands freePlantronics headsets to conventional officetelephones substantially improves productivityand overall call volume while reducing phonerelated employee downtime and physicaldiscomfort. In the course of the study, more than2,000 telephone transactions were observed andrecorded on a time/motion basis at four firms overan eight day study period. Workgroups studiedincluded inside sales people, travel agents,technical sales support personnel andstockbrokers with previous headset experience.

The results showed that workers equipped withPlantronics headsets had an overall productivityincrease of up to 43% over the control group. Timespent in telephone related work activities wasreduced substantially. Repeat calls were madewithout interruption, and ordinarily time intensivetasks such as typing on a PC were performed farmore quickly and efficiently with Plantronicsheadsets. Not only was a reduced error rate andimproved service record noted, but workers onthe phone full-time with Plantronics headsetsplaced an average of 16 more calls per day thanthose using traditional handsets.Finally, workers equipped with Plantronicsheadsets reported higher morale, lower fatiguelevels and fewer phone related physicalcomplaints. After more than a week of usingPlantronics headsets they couldn’t imagine goingback to using cumbersome handset phones.
