BASIC PRINCIPLE
It is an induction coil in an automobile's ignition system which transforms the battery's low voltage to the thousands of volts needed to create an electric spark in the spark plugs to ignite the fuel
The wire that goes from the ignition coil to the distributor and the high voltage wires that go from the distributor to each of the spark plugs are called spark plug wires or high tension leads
An ignition coil consists of a laminated iron core surrounded by two coils of copper wire. An ignition coil has an open magnetic circuit - the iron core does not form a closed loop around the windings. The energy that is stored in the magnetic field of the core is the energy that is transferred to the spark plug
WORKING AND CONSTUCTION
The primary winding has relatively few turns of heavy wire. The secondary winding consists of thousands of turns of smaller wire, insulated for the high voltage by enamel on the wires and layers of oiled paper insulation.
When the contact breaker closes, it allows a current from the battery to build up in the primary winding of the ignition coil. The current does not flow instantly because of the inductance of the coil.
Current flowing in the coil produces a magnetic field in the core and in the air surrounding the core. Once the current has built up to its full level, the contact breaker opens.
A capacitor connected across it, the primary winding and the capacitor form a tuned circuit, and as the stored energy oscillates between the inductor formed by the coil and the capacitor
INTERLOCKED LAMINATIONS
An interlocked stack of laminations for rotors or for
core for HT ignition coil wherein each lamination
includes a centrally located, circular indentation.
The indentation provides corresponding projections
and depressions in the laminas which may be
interlocked by engagement of a projection in one
lamina with an adjacent depression in an adjacent
lamina
MANUFACTURING
The laminas are blanked from continuous strip
stock and then stacked and bound together to form
the rotor or stator.
Progressive die assemblies for producing stator or
rotor laminations are well known, wherein a strip of
lamination material is fed through a sequence of
punching steps to progressively form the laminas to
the desired end configuration
INTRODUCTION
The wide range starts from very small transformer of 3VA
and goes up till 500KVA in various configurations like
Step up, Step down, Isolation, Auto-transformer and
Insulation Class
The normal voltage range is from few volts for electronic
application to 66KV for HT application and frequency
range varies from 50-400Hz for Iron Core application and
up to 100 KHz for Ferrite core application in single,
double and three phases.
Three phase transformers are normally made in round
coils to achieve best performance at minimum cost
PRINCIPLE AND WORKING
A transformer is a static electrical device that transfers
energy by inductive coupling between its winding
circuits
A varying current in the primary winding creates a
varying magnetic flux in the transformer's core and thus
a varying magnetic flux through the secondary winding
This varying magnetic flux induces a
varying electromotive force (emf) or voltage in the
secondary winding. Transformers can be used to vary
the relative voltage of circuits or isolate them, or both.
INTRODUCTION
Addon engineering was established in 1982
The company is manufacturing horns for Cars, Jeeps,
LCVs, Tractors, Trucks, Motorcycles & Scooters. The
controlling rights of Addon rest with Wings Automobile
Products Private Ltd since July 2007.
Oliver Lucas of Birmingham, England developed a
standard electric car horn in 1910.
WORKING AND PRINCIPLE
Automobile horns are usually electric, driven by a flat circular steel diaphragm that has an electromagnet acting upon it and is attached to a contactor that repeatedly interrupts the current to the electromagnet.
There is usually a screw to adjust the distance/tension of the electrical contacts for best operation
A spiral exponential horn shape is cast into the body of the horn, to better match the acoustical impedance of the diaphragm with open air, and thus more effectively transfer the sound energy. Sound levels are approximately 107–109 decibels, and current draw 5–6 amperes.
