The Principal’s Shield

Lamp of Knowledge Our teachers and students have been engaged in high levels of teaching and learning

during the first nine weeks of school. The 1st marking period will come to an end on Friday, October 9th, and report cards will be issued on Friday, October 16th. As we continue this partnership for student success, you are highly encouraged to attend our Grade Level Parent Sessions and Report Card Night on Thursday, October 15TH at 5:30PM. During these parent sessions, each grade level administrator and counselor will be sharing with you how to access and utilize the school wide supports, resources, and strategies that will aid your child in having a successful 2nd marking period and in their continued journey to earning a high school diploma.

As always, it is critically important that our students are present and on time each day of school. Your help is needed in ensuring that our students are arriving to school on time each day, as this continues to be a challenge for many of our parents and students. Our school day begins at 7:45AM. Students chronically arriving to school and/or class late are consequently missing valuable instruction. In addition to positive reinforcements we utilize to acknowledge students arriving to class on time, we will also be progressively assigning consequences to students who are chronically tardy.

Oak Leaf of Victory

We are proud of the athletic success that our student-athletes and coaches have achieved thus far this fall athletic season. The football team, under the leadership of Coach Busby and his coaching staff, celebrated the team’s first football victory since 2012 with a dominant 21-0 homecoming victory over Groves High School. Our varsity volleyball team is currently 17-2 and is in 1st place in the region (6-0). We are excited about their phenomenal success as they get ready for a thrilling playoff season. Our softball and cross country teams, under the leadership of Coach Sanders and Coach Blizzard-Flowers respectively, have also continued to compete at high levels and we commend them on their efforts this season. Lastly, I also want to commend our band students and cheerleaders whose support of our athletic programs is invaluable. The parental support of our athletic and extracurricular programs is certainly evident in your presence at our events, and it has been exciting to see the wave of green and hear the cheers from our parents and fans! Go Knights! Oak Leaf of Strength You may be familiar with the popular quote which states, “There is strength in numbers.” Windsor certainly displayed strength at our annual State of the School Summit in August as parent/guardian(s) filled the cafeteria to join us in not only celebrating the great things taking place here at the castle but to also hear about the direction and focus for this school year. I want to encourage all of our parent/guardian(s) to continue to be engaged in this partnership and join us in our quest for continuous school improvement. Through your membership in our PTA, your participation in our grade level parent sessions, your attendance at report card night, your engagement in parent conferences/contact with teachers, and your attendance at school events, you demonstrate your commitment to support school improvement. Congratulations to the SY15-16 newly elected school council parent representatives Mrs. Diane Robinson and Mrs. Zena McClain-Haymon. Mr. Derrick L. Butler Interim Principal
