“This tutorial is aimed at new Windows XP users that are unfamiliar with the operating system. “
It can also be used by general public who is trying to gain more insight on Windows XP.
It is appropriate for the audience because of the language uses, variety of screen shots, and organization is easy to follow.
It uses in outline format. There are total of 5 parts. 1. Introduction to Windows XP desktop,
icons, start button, taskbar, clock2. Overview of Start Menu3. Overview of Windows XP taskbar, Quick
Launch Bar, System Tray4. Overview of opening Windows Explorer5. Overview of creating, copying, deleting,
and renaming files and folders
Each part consists of several screen shots. It is well organized and the steps are in both
numbered and in paragraph form.
It is combination of informal and formal. The tutorial holds our interests by
including pictures and instructions that are easy to follow.
All directions are easy to follow by using screen shots, and understandable languages.
All steps are present, and no elements are missing.
1. “Click on the START button, hover your mouse over the All Programs (or programs in classic view) and then hover over Accessories, finally click on Windows Explorer. “
2. “Hold down the START button and press the E key. “3. “Click the START button, click run, type explorer into
the box and press enter. “4. “Open My Computer and click on the Folders button
at the top of the My Computer environment. “
This tutorial lesson works well and the results are just as described by the authors.
Also, it gives four different methods how to open Windows Explorer.
This is a good example of a process manual which gives us some ideas for our own process manual.
We will use similar organization and structure, variety of screen shots, and the language that is easily understood by everybody.
