ThisallowsyoutointeractivelyconfigureyourWindowsMobile2005devicethroughtheUSBconnection(viaActiveSync).

Thistoolwillalsoguideyoubyvalidatingtheparameters.

Requirement:YouneedtohaveAdminrightsonyourPCtocontinue.

Step�:Setup¨ LocateProximusPushConfig.exeonyourPCanddoubleclickonit.Ifyour.NETframeworkversionisnotgreaterthan2.0.5,thesoftwarewillaskyoutodownloadthelatest.NETframeworkversion.Ifso,click“yes”

Step2:Run¨ ConnectthedevicetoyourPC.Ifyouforget,theapplicationwillremindyoutodothis.¨ RuntheapplicationonyourPCandfollowtheprocessbyclickingontheNextbuttons

¨ Youwillhavetoentermanuallyyoure-mailserverconfigurationparametersasshowninthepictureabove:o Hostname,OutlookUsername,OutlookPasswordand

o TheDomain.namewillberetrievedfromthecurrentcomputer.However,theuserisabletooverridethisvalue.o TheAPNisfixedbytheapplication(linktoProximusnetwork).

Whatdoestheapplicationdo?¨ TheapplicationcheckstheSSLparameter:

o Itwill check if the remoteexchangeserver isusingaself-signcertificate. If so, theapplicationwill install thecertificateautomaticallyonthedevice;

o Iftheexchangeserverusesacertificateauthoritythatisnotinthecertificationstoreofthedevice,theuserwillberequestedtoprovideacertificate.AcheckwillbemadetoverifythattheprovidedCAcertificateiscorrect.

¨ Theapplicationmakesitpossibletospecifysomeactivesyncparameterssuchaso MailAge:ThisparameterisusedintheMailandSettingscharacteristicsasanagefilterfore-mail.Thefilteronlyfiltersout

expireditems;allunexpirede-mailmessagesaresyncedtothedevice.Thisparameteralsodetermineshowlongexpirede-mailmessagescanremainonthedevice.

o Body:ThisparameterisusedintheMailandSettingscharacteristicstoidentifytheamountofe-mailmessagebodytoberetrievedduringaServerActiveSync.

o Attachs:ThisparameterisusedintheMailandSettingscharacteristicstospecifythemaximumsize(inbytes)ofanattachmentforittobeautomaticallydownloaded.

¨ Theapplicationwillsavetheparametersontothedevice,includingtheCArootcertificate,andrebootthedevice.

Attheendoftheconfigurationprocess,wecanbesurethatthedeviceisconfiguredandthattheparametersprovidedarecorrect,includingtheSLLRootcertificate.

UnlessthecertificateisboughtfromatrustedthirdpartyCertificateAuthority,suchasThawteorEntrust,thecertificatewillneedtobeinstalledonthedeviceitselfforanencryptedsessiontobeestablishedbetweentheExchangeserverandWindowsMobile5.0handset.

Insomecases(customerwithcomplexITinfrastructure)thisprocessmaynotworkasexplained.Ifso,contactyourITmanagertofindoutaboutacertificate.Ifyouarenotabletopurchaseacertificatealone,askhimtoprovideitforyou.

Oncethecertificatehasbeenlocalisedonyourcomputer,performthefollowingsteps:Copyphase:

Ø Connectyourdevicetoyourcomputer(viaActivSync).Ø Gotothelocationofthecertificate,Ø Right-clickthecertificate(.cer)fileandclickCopyØ NavigatetoMobileDeviceunderMyComputer.Bydefault,thecontentsoftheMyDocumentsfolderonthedevicearedisplayed.Ø Right-clickthecontentareaandclickPastetocopythecertificatefiletothedevice.

InstallingtheCertificateontheDevice:

Ø Oncethecertificatehasbeentransferredtothedevice,openFileExploreronyourdeviceØ FindthecertificatefileyoujustcopiedtotheMyDocumentsfolderonthedeviceandrunthefilebyeithertappingthefilenameor

pressingENTERwhilethefileisselected.Ø Click Yes on the confirmation message box to install the certificate. If you receive no error messages, the certificate is installed

successfully

If youget anerrormessage after tapping yes, theWM5.0 devicehas been locked from installing root certificates and a certificate installerapplicationmaybenecessarytounlockthedevice.

Ø Contactyourdevicemanufacturerformoredetails

Oncethecertificateisinstalled,doublecheckbytappingonStart>Settings > Certificates > RootSettings > Certificates > Root>Certificates > RootCertificates > Root>RootRoot.Youshouldseeyourcertificateinstalled.

Followthewizardexportprocess.Attheendoftheprocessyouwillreceivean‘exportsuccessful’message. Bydefault,thecertificatefileissavedonDesktopfolder.

4. ProceedwithCopyingandInstallingthiscertificateonthedeviceasdescribedinsection3ofthisstep2.5. Checkthecertificateinstallationasdescribedinsection2ofthisstep2.

¨ Calendar–choosehowfarbackyouwanttosynchronisedata:twoweeks,onemonth,twomonthsetc.¨ E-mail–Whensynchronisingmessages,youcanchoosetheamountofdaystosynchronisebackto,andalsothemaximumfilesize

ofeache-mailsynchronised,includingfileattachmentdetails.Thereisalsoanadvancedoption,allowingoutgoingmessagestobeencrypted,andtosignalloutgoinge-mailmessages.Theprimarye-mailaddresscanalsobespecified.

TheWindowsMobilefromVodafonee-mailfoldersareasfollows:

Deleteditems: Whenyoudeleteanitem,it ismovedtotheDeletedItemsfolderonyourphoneanddeletedfromyourbusinesse-mailaccount.Drafts: Draftsofmessagesyouhavesaved,butnotsent,arestoredinthisfolder.Inbox: Incomingmessagesarestoredinthisfolder.Outbox: Messagesyouhavewrittenaretemporarilystoredinthisfolder.Sentitems: Outgoingmessagesarestoredinthisfolder.

2.2 Receivingandreadinge-mail

ReceivedmessagesaresavedintheInbox.Themostrecentmessagesareshownatthetop.Formoresortingoptions,clickonReceivedintheheaderbartoconsultthesortingmenu.Informationisgivenonthestatusbaratthebottomabouttheitemcurrentlyselectedinthemenu.Forexample,ifamessageismarkedintheInbox,thestatusbarwillindicatehowmanymessagesareintheInboxandhowmanyareunread.

deleteit.¨ Toopenthedraft,clickontheInboxmenu>Drafts.Clickontheheaderofthemessagetoopenthemessage.Youcancontinuetowork

onthemessage,senditorcancel(delete)it.¨ To cancel a message, open the folder in which the message is saved (in the Drafts or Outbox folder).
