In chapter 4, verse 8, it says, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (ESV). John Maxwell once said that he believes that this is one of the most important verses in the entire Bible. It really is. It tells us that we have the power to choose what we will think about. It tells us that God cares about what we think about. And it tells us precisely what we should think about. God is telling us in this verse that we are to choose to dwell on those things which are life-giving and reject thoughts which are death-producing. That’s why Solomon wrote in Proverbs 4:23, “More than anything you guard, protect your mind, for life flows from it” (CEB). That’s why Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 10:5, “We take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ” (NIV). I thank God that He has given us as a church and as individuals all so many wonderful gifts to be thankful for and to dwell on. I would love it if we could gain a reputation in the community for being a church that always finds that which is good and dwells on it. I would love it if the members of our church family were known for being the most encouraging, positive, and loving people in town. I pray that God would bless you with a rich awareness of all of the blessings that God has placed in your life. May you find those things which are excellent and praiseworthy and spend your thought time dwelling on them. As always it such a blessing serve Jesus Christ alongside you! Dear Bethel friends,

A couple days ago during my Bible reading time I came across a wonderful verse of Scripture in the little New Testament book of Philippians.

Sincerely, Debra Moll, Township Supervisor”
