Power User MenuKeyboard Shortcuts
How it Works
• Win + X opens the Power Menu• Release the Win key• Underlined letter activates the menu option
Win + X, F
• Opens the Programs and Features page in Control Panel
• Shows currently installed applications • Use to uninstall, change, or repair programs
and add/remove Windows features
Win + X, B
• Opens the Mobility Center pop up menu • Shows peripheral controls and Sync Center• Use to change basic settings for portable devices
Win + X, O
• Opens the Power Options page in Control Panel
• Shows current power plan and other options • Use to configure power settings,
and change related power preferences
Win + X, V
• Opens Event Viewer • Shows logged messages from windows
and other programs• Use to view system, security, application, and audit
logs, and to resolve related issues
Win + X, Y
• Opens the System page in Control Panel • Shows computer information
with links to other options• Use to access system configuration properties for
various system related settings
Win + X, M
• Opens Device Manager • Shows currently installed devices• Use to view devices, update/remove drivers,
and change/set related properties

• Opens Network Connections • Shows current status of network devices• Use to view and manage network configuration, set
properties, and enable/disable devices

• Opens the Disk Management console • Shows disk and volume information • Use to manage advanced configuration settings for
disks, drives, volumes, and partitions

• Opens the Computer Management console• Shows various system and management tools• Use as general, all-purpose trouble / monitoring tool

• Opens Windows PowerShell for the current user (See next for Admin)
• Use for command line management as well as to access specific snap-in command line tools

• Opens Windows PowerShell as Administrator (See previous for current user)
• Use for command line management with elevated privileges when needed for specific commands

• Opens the Task Manager window• Shows current system activity for various processes• Use to monitor system performance
and to resolve related issues

• Use to search/navigate all control panel items and to manage related settings
