All singles Medal and Stableford competitions will qualify for Handicapping purposes (unless otherwise determined) as will any competition so indicated on the official entry sheet.

Lady members will be classified as follows:- o Division 1: handicaps up to 20.4 o Division 2: handicaps 20.5 to 28.4 o Division 3: handicaps 28.5+, o Club Handicaps

These are subject to annual review by the Ladies Committee.

2.1.3. Teeing Ground and Tee Times All Competitors shall play from the relevant tee for the competition they are

participating in, as defined in the later sections of this document. Competitions shall start from the first tee unless directed otherwise by the Pro Shop or permission to start at an alternative tee is set out in the Conditions of Entry or has been obtained from the Pro Shop

In consideration of their playing partners, competitors are asked to be on the tee five minutes before their designated tee time.

2.1.4. Procedures Knockout Competitions (as detailed in section 2.2):

A player must have signed in for the competition and paid the entry fee prior to the closing date in order to be entered in the draw. All entry requirements must be met in order to be entered into the draw. If it is shown subsequently that entry requirements have not been met, then the player will be disqualified from the competition.

It is the responsibility of the first drawn player/team to ensure the match is arranged and played by the due date.

Unresolved matches will be decided by the Ladies Competitions’ Secretary (possibly by the spin of a coin).

In Pairs’ Competitions, a partner may be substituted after the competition draw and prior to playing their first match of the competition. Once a match has been played, a partner cannot be substituted.

If a team or player is no longer eligible or able to compete or is disqualified from the competition, the team or player that was to be played next receives a bye, rather than the previous team being progressed to the next round.

If there are 6 or more temporary greens in operation on the day of play, the match should be postponed and an alternative date agreed.

Stroke Play and Stableford Competitions (as detailed in sections 2.3 and 2.4)

Competitors must enter the competition, sign in and pay the entrance fee prior to playing.

All scores must, at the earliest opportunity, be entered into the club’s competition computer (including no returns) by the player.

If a player fails to report for play or withdraws without adequate notice prior to start of play of a competition, they may be excluded from entry into the next two competitions which they qualify to enter.

Fun Competitions (as detailed in section 2.5)

Competitors must enter the competition, sign in and pay the entrance fee prior to playing.

Upon completion of their round, they must enter their score into the club’s competitions’ computer, if required.

If a player fails to report for play or withdraws without adequate notice prior to start of play of a competition, they may be excluded from entry into future competitions which they qualify to enter.

Page 7: Windlesham Golf Club Ladies Competition Rules · 2018. 11. 22. · All singles Medal and Stableford competitions will qualify for Handicapping purposes (unless otherwise determined)

7

2.1.5. Score Cards In official qualifying competitions, the marking of a score card must be

undertaken and signed for by the course partner of the competitor, who is referred to as ‘the marker’. The course partner need not be competing in the qualifying competition.

All score cards must be returned to the Pro Shop and be clearly completed, dated and signed by both the marker and the player. Failure to properly complete a score card can result in disqualification from the competition.

2.1.6. Ties In Strokeplay and Stableford Competitions, ties will be decided by ‘count

back’ over the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 holes, with the exception of the Gross Club Championship match where a tie will be decided by a sudden death playoff starting at the 10th.

In Match Play events, a match that is tied after 18 holes shall continue without delay from the 10th hole, (and will have precedence over players waiting to start) as many succeeding holes will be played as needed to achieve a result. Strokes shall be claimed according to the stroke index of the hole and handicap allowance. In Foursomes match play, the order of play will continue to alternate for the additional holes.

SLCGA matches shall continue from the 1st hole or as declared in their competition rules.

In fun competitions, the event organiser will decide the mechanism by which the tie is resolved, usually by ‘count back’.

2.1.7. Inclement Weather As per R&A guidance:

o In the case of poor weather conditions, if the course is fully open and the course conditions meet the requirements of the competition rules, the competition will run.

o If during the running of a competition the course is closed (decision of Green Keeping staff / Proshop) then the competition will be abandoned.

o If during the running of a competition, in the opinion of the senior green keeper on duty or the senior member of the Proshop on duty, in consultation with, either the Men’s or Ladies’ Competitions’ secretaries the course becomes unplayable then play may be suspended or ultimately the competition may be abandoned.

2.1.8. Interpretation of Rules If a ruling is required either during or after any Ladies Competition, the Pro

Shop will make the ruling and communicate this to those involved before the competition is closed and the results are published. The Competitions Secretary and Ladies Captain will then be notified of the nature and result of the ruling.

In the event of an appeal, this should be made, in writing, to the Ladies’ Captain by the person appealing.

The Ladies’ Captain will then appoint a Committee member to take

Page 8: Windlesham Golf Club Ladies Competition Rules · 2018. 11. 22. · All singles Medal and Stableford competitions will qualify for Handicapping purposes (unless otherwise determined)

8

ownership of the appeal and, through consultation with the Club Competition Secretary, make a ruling and feedback this to the appellant.

The decision made by this process will be final. For the Club Championship, the Pro Shop will be the first point of contact for
