Adirondack Voices to Begin RehearsalsGLENS FALLS – The Adirondack Voices will hold their fi rst rehearsal on Tuesday, September 6, at 6:45pm, in preparation for their annual holiday concert. Rehearsals will be held at Christ Church United Methodist, 54 Bay Street. Subsequent rehearsals will be from 7-9pm each Tuesday evening. Under the direction of Penny Schiek, the chorus, currently consisting of ap-proximately 70 members, will be preparing a variety of seasonal music for their December 6 concert. Anyone interested in joining the group is welcome to attend. No auditions are required; however, members must be willing to commit to attending at least 75% of rehearsals. Adirondack Balloon FestivalGLENS FALLS – The Board of Directors of the Adiron-dack Balloon Festival is pleased to announce that this year’s Festival, which will take place from September 22 thru September 25 will be a tribute to our dear friend, Wal-ter Grishkot, who was a founder and the long-time orga-nizer of the event. Event kicks off Thursday, September 22 at Crandall Park, in Glens Falls. Opening ceremonies will include a tribute to Mr. Grishkot followed by the first bal-loon launch. On Friday, activities will move to Floyd Ben-nett Memorial Airport with an evening launch of 70 plus balloons. A full weekend of activities at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport will start Saturday at 6:30am with over 85 balloons anticipated to attend this year’s event. Sunday morning’s launch will be a mass ascension entitled “Wal-ter’s Flight”, as all balloons will rise to the sky simulta-neously from the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport. New this year, Sunday evening’s launch will return to Crandall Park to close the weekend with a flight of 20+ balloons. Sportsmen Education WeekendWARREN COUNTY – Cornell Cooperative Extension will be working in cooperation with Sportsmen Education Instructors and the Warren County Conservation Council to host various sportsmen education classes on Saturday & Sunday, Septem-ber 17 & 18.
