It took some time for summer to heat up, but once again it has flown by! It feels like we were just beginning to think about our summer plans starting with our extended Memorial

Day weekend getaway. Usually life seems to slow down a bit in the summer. This year mother nature beckoned us to stay indoors while she brought about more than our share of rain, keeping our outdoor activities at bay.

But now, the kiddos are heading back to school and our planners fill up with school practices,

dental appointments, and coordinating with family of the not so far away holidays. This is when making that decision to buy or sell your house really starts empowering you to take action. With so many more options coming available, I encourage you to keep looking until you have fallen in love with a community just right for you and your family. Ranging from boutique to small sized town communities, hill country to nearby shopping, or all the above, I’m certain you’ll know it when you see it!

Why Everyone Wants to Move to ROUND ROCK

and No One Wants to Leave

Round Rock continues to lead most of the nation in population growth, and for good reason. Thousands of people move here

every year, attracted by excellent schools, desirable communities and the abundance of high-quality, well-paying jobs. When they get there and discover how warm their neighbors are and how many amenities the city has to offer, most people commit to becoming “Round Rockers” for life.

To see why so many people love Round Rock, and why countless more will soon discover that love after moving, here are some facts about the city:

From Creek Crossing to Economic Powerhouse

The first permanent settlements at Round Rock began around 1851. At the time, wagon trains and cattle drivers were using the town’s titular round rock to mark a low water spot in the creek that was perfect for crossing. An early postmaster designated the town as “Brushy” before another postmaster insisted that the round rock provide the name for the unique town. The original cluster of buildings is now referred to as “Old Town,” and many of the historic structures have been restored or preserved to this day.

When Interstate 35 was built in the 1950s as part of Eisenhower’s interstate system, planners decided after much debate that the highway would run alongside Round Rock’s Old Town. This highway made travel convenient both for commercial routes and commuters who worked in the growing Austin area. By the ‘80s, Round Rock had grown into a community in its own right, rather than remaining a “suburb” of Austin. A population explosion followed in the ‘90s that still continues unabated.

A Great Place for BusinessIn addition to jobs being supplied from Austin

and nearby areas, Round Rock has developed quite a sizable business ecosystem of its own. One of the first major businesses to relocate there was the computer manufacturer Dell. They relocated from their offices at The Arboretum building to Round Rock from 1994 to 1996. With their 16,000 plus employees, they provided a boost to jobs in the area that allowed a middle class to grow and flourish.

Since that time, the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce has actively courted other businesses to relocate to the area. Cintas, Sears Customer Care, KoMiCo Technology, Inc., Emerson Process Management and countless other businesses have a major presence in Round Rock. Emerson in particular

unveiled their new $70 million facility last year, which will provide more than 800 high-paying jobs to the area.

Opportunities like these have led to Round Rock being declared the #5 high-tech market in the nation by commercial realtors JLL and the #3 best US city for jobs by Forbes in 2014.

A Town People Can’t Stop Talking AboutIn addition to jobs and population growth,

Round Rock provides a high quality of life that is almost impossible to match. CNBC once listed the area as one of their “10 Perfect Suburbs,” and Livability.com declared Round Rock as the best affordable city to live in the nation.

The Round Rock Chamber of Commerce lists numerous other accolades given to the city. Round Rock’s Independent School District consistently ranks among the top in the state by the Texas Education Agency.

The area also has some of the most beautiful homes and neighborhoods in the nation.

Paloma LakeComplete with a private lake, Paloma Lake is

your oasis from the hectic pace of life. Just minutes from Austin, this master-planned community will

complement your lifestyle, whether you’re a family, empty nester or somewhere in between. Community features include a private lake with fishing camp, hike & bike trails, pool, community center and a brand new amenities center is now open!

SienaSiena comes included with plenty of family

activities and community amenities. Relax by the Olympic sized pool or enjoy a family picnic in one of the park areas. When the kiddos need to burn off some energy, the playground has well-maintained equipment and plenty of room to play. When you want a workout, the community trails are perfect for walking, biking or jogging.

TeravistaWith 1,576 acres, this picturesque community

encompasses the cities of Round Rock and Georgetown. At its completion Teravista will have a total of 3,400 homes. Teravista features 10 miles of continuous walking trails, 3 Pools, 2 fitness centers, play scapes, water ways, a lighted tennis court, sand volleyball, outdoor basketball court and even a pet washing station. The championship 18-hole, daily fee golf course winds throughout the entire Community.

Work is almost complete on a special “Benefit Home:” The Nathaniel, a two-story home built by Chesmar Homes,

5 styling tips for your kid’s study :1. Basics:

A white desk & chair are the perfect pieces to build up on your child’s changing preferences of style as they grow.

2. Color: Refresh the room with color … it’s proven to stimulate the senses. I do believe in allowing the kids to choose colors … especially of accents & small items {if not for the entire wall} .

3. Showcase: Dedicate a space to show off their works of art. It could be a shelf to display their clay sculptures or frames on the wall for a budding Picasso’s masterpieces.

4. Style: Keep the décor playful by choosing items with a touch of whimsy and fun ! Patterns on the fabrics & organizers an excellent way to do this.

5. Inspire: Bring in things that will encourage them to learn and explore. Maps, wall art with inspirational words are a great for this !
