A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Wildcat Families,
It’s crazy to think we are already into October, but I’m not going to lie we are looking forward to some cooler weather and
rain. Here are a few important reminders for this month at WSMS:
Parent Conference week: 1:50 dismissal all week, Monday – Friday (8th-12th). If your son or daughter is having a difficult time adjusting to the new school year or you would just like to meet with the teachers, please make sure to e-mail teachers and set up a meeting next week. All teachers will be reaching out to any student that has a failing grade before conference week. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the front office so we can assist you.
8th Grade PSAT: Wednesday 10/10 is our annual College Kick-off and 8th grade PSAT practice test (please visit school website for event details)
Drop-off and Pick-up in the front office: This is a quick reminder that we want to do our best to make sure students are success-ful and have everything with them daily (i.e. Lunches, Band Instruments, Homework, Binders etc.) prior to arriving on campus. The front office is not responsible for delivering items forgotten at home or in cars during the school day unless it is an emergen-cy. Please help us remind students of the importance to be prepared each day.
School Arrival Times: Zero period students need to be on campus at 7:45 for class to start at 7:55 and all non-zero period stu-dents should arrive no earlier than 8:30 unless they are attending the Wildcat Den for homework and/or tutoring. (See pg. 4 for the hours). The Torrey Pines Park and their fields are not supervised by WSMS and the park is not the best place to hang out be-fore and after school. We would appreciate any support you can offer in making sure students arrive and depart school safely.
Upcoming Events:
• Red Ribbon Week: October 22nd-26th We will have “Say No to Drug” activities each day this week.
• Spooktacular Dance: Friday the 26th and this will also be our Costume day. (Please make sure no masks or weapons.) The students will not be wearing costumes on the 31st just Orange and Black attire.
• Every Wednesday is College Shirt Day and Every Friday is School Spirit Day as well as the last Friday of each month which is our school wide Spirit Rally.
The WSMS mission is simple: Inspired to think, to learn, to achieve, to care with P.R.I.D.E
Purpose, Rigor, Integrity, Determination, Empowerment Sincerely, Mr. Picchiottino, “Mr. P”
