Friends, dancing and a night to remember. “Homecoming is a night to get dressed up and have fun with your friends,” said sophomore Brooke Herbert. This year’s spirit week days were chosen by the Var- sity Cheerleader squad. Monday had the theme of Neon Day. Students brightened up the hallways with their neon colored clothes. Tuesday, the student body had on their fashion disaster outfits. Everyone was seeing double on Wednesday due to the Twin Day theme. Thursday was USA Day. At the end the week, students really showed their school spirit for LSW Spirit Day. The homecoming pep rally was held on the Thursday of spirit week, where homecoming royalty was an- nounced. Then the homecoming football game was held that night. Students showed up in their USA clothes to cheer on the football players for the homecoming game against Kearney. The USA theme was picked in honor of 9/11. “I really liked the USA theme for the game and that the dance wasn’t held on the same day as the game,” senior Kiernan Mullin said. That Saturday, the homecoming dance was held in the commons at Southwest. Having the dance on Saturday allowed the students more time to get ready rather than it being on a school day or right after the football game. “I thought dressing up and taking pictures was fun, but the dance was just a little too claustrophobic,” freshman Jada Johnson said. This year’s dance had a small change that ended up making a big impact on the students. Instead of the DJ booth being towards the front of the commons, it was placed in the middle. “I felt like they were just trying to prevent us from dancing badly by putting the stage in the middle of the floor”, said junior Jack Minnick. Students showed their pride and school spirit during homecoming week, not just because of the festivities, but more importantly, because of their friends. Friends, dancing and a night to remember. “Homecoming is a night to get dressed up and have

fun with your friends,” said sophomore Brooke Herbert. This year’s spirit week days were chosen by the Var-

sity Cheerleader squad.

The homecoming pep rally was held on the Thursday of spirit week, where homecoming royalty was an-nounced.
