English language will always dominate due to the US influence. Spanish Wikipedia has a relatively high share of views in this and the other diseases, likely to also be driven by views in Latin American countries

In conclusion, when we sum the views from the 5 reviewed diseases, as expected English language searches dominate in Wikipedia however Spanish & German pages represent a significant opportunity

Editor Activity
Source Wikipedia
• Non English pages are edited less than corresponding English pages but are also viewed less
• For consistency a measure of ‘page stability’ is included in the following slides– Average page views per edit
(This measure looks at how many times a page is viewed, on average, before it is edited)
– A higher number indicates a more stable page
Bipolar disorderWikipedia editor activity

German Wikipedia is an outlier here with a relatively high average number of views between each edit

My bias before this analysis was that the non-English sites would have less active editors. In proportion to views the opposite is generally true

And to continue the trend again the English version shows greatest stability

The English language version is clearly the most stable (based on the Top 5 diseases analysed)German and Spanish are relatively stable, another reason to focus on these markets

Key conclusions
• Non English EU5 languages also represent a significant Wikipedia health care opportunity– German and Spanish are of particular interest
due to relatively high page views– Spanish will also be viewed in Latin America
• Editors in these ‘other’ languages are at least as active as the English version, if not more so– They will actively spot changes made– There is a significant base of editors to work with

Clearly further analysis will be needed when a decision is made to review a particular product or therapy area, with a view to editing it
