Siren Options
Klaxon Signals provides a range of warning sirens for operation in various environments. The range includesboth, conventional motor driven sirens suitable for safe and hazardous locations, and the more sophisticatedand flexible electronic sirens for safe area operation.
Electronic Sirens
Electronic sirens are modular in construction and can emit pre-recorded or live voice messages inaddition to traditional tones. They are designed to perform silent tests at a user defined time periodwhich determines the operational capability of the siren. A full range of control equipment isavailable: stand alone hard wire switch control; computer system control; radio and/or satellitecontrolled link units.
Motor Driven Sirens
Motor driven sirens are manufactured from cast aluminium for use in outdoorenvironments. They produce a powerful universally recognised emergencynotification signal . ATEX approved models are available for use in hazardous areas.

Wide Area Siren Options
Motor Driven Sirens
Features
 Simple robust technology
 ATEX approved or safe area siren options
 Cost effective high audible output
Motor Driven Sirens are not suitable for applications that require;
Siren operation during power failureMore than 2 alarm signalsPrevention or restriction of siren operation to determine its operational statusLarge distances between the siren and 3 phase power source due to installation costs.Where unit weight at height is a constraint
Electronic Sirens
Features
 Fault diagnosis and silent test facility - the siren performs silent tests at a user defined time period to determine the operational capability of the siren and then relays the results to a monitoring point.
 Battery powered siren operation means loss of site power has no effect on thefunctionality of the siren. An AC power supply is only required to maintain batterycharge.
 Up to 8 different user defined alarm signals can be activated via volt free contacts and more when a RS485 interface is used as a means of control.
 Pre-recorded voice or public address (PA) message capability.
 Low installation costs because the siren only requires a 110/230V AC supply instead of the 400V AC 3 phase supply required for motor driven sirens.
 Siren system can be charged from a solar panel array for use in remote locations.
 Variable sound levels for each warning signal enables on-site and off-site warning through the same siren.
 Contains two user definable schedulers for time signalling.
Electronic Sirens are not suitable for applications that require;
ATEX approved sirens. However, the siren can drive 100V ATEX approved line drivenequipment for specific hazardous area locations.

Siren Vs Distance Guide at 70 dBFor an alarm signal to be effective, ideally the warning signal should have frequencies that are not normally present inthe ambient noise audio spectrum. This will allow the alarm signal to be heard distinctly from ambient noise levels.
Where possible, the level of the warning signal should be approximately 10dB higher than the ambient noise level.

Motor Driven Siren Controls
OverviewKlaxon manufacture motor driven siren controllers tomeet user specific requirements.
These controllers can be configured to minimise the costof multiple siren systems by implementing a master slavemeans of operation.
Local slave controllers are used to reduce cabling costsin situations where the master controller has to bepositioned in a remote location.
Sirens can be activated via internal control panelswitches or remotely positioned switches which are eitherhardwired or radio linked to the controller(s).

Electronic Sirens
OverviewES sirens are based on a common control system thatincorporates communication and control interfaces forradio and land line, user programmable warning signalgeneration, live and digitally stored voice messages andself-test facility. The siren uses modular, Class D audiopower amplifiers that can be sized to drive a modularloudspeaker array to provide a range of sound pressurelevels from 106dB to 125dB at 30 meters. As a result, ESsirens are able to provide omni-directional or uni-directional warning for sites with a radius ranging from300m to 2000m.
The internal ‘Quiet Test’ facility performs a completepower test on the siren and the status report can either beread on the siren control panel or communicated to thecontrol station.
