Origin And Development Around 2001; the Nokia Research Center was looking at options for future personal wireless networking. It made them to develop a technology called Wibree to meet the requirements of low power consumption, small size, and low cost. Nokia decided to create a new open wireless protocol along with its partners Broadcom Corporation, CSR, Epson, and Nordic Semiconductor. Nokia decided to create a new open wireless protocol as a alternative proposal for the radio and Media Access Controller (MAC) for the 802.15.4 standard, which is now the basis of Zigbee and other short range radio networks.M. IntroductionWhat is Wibree ? Wibree also called Bluetooth low Energy", is a short range RF communication technology designed for ultra low power applications. The key feature of Wibree is very low consumption (button cell batteries) of power within a short range (10 meters / 30 feet).

Technology coming under IEEE 802.15.4 standard. Wibree works with the data rate of 1Mbps.M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology 5

IntroductionWhat Wibree Does? Wibrees main application is to provide an ultra low power radio within the 2.4GHz band . Wibree produces a radio that can transmit a small packet of data approximately every second for a year using a small button cell, such as a CR2430, with a capacity of around 280mAH . It gains its low power by being able to wake up, send data and return to sleep very quickly

7

Wibree Stand-Alone Chip Only Wibree enabled chip is used. Designed for devices with low hardware specifications . Used when quantities of data transferred are small Commonly implemented in : Watches. Sport / wellness devices. Wireless Keyboards. Wireless mouse.M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology 8

Wibree-Bluetooth Dual Mode Chip Designed for Bluetooth Devices. Wibree functionality is integrated with Bluetooth. The integration is done with slight increment in cost by utilizing Bluetooth components and existing radio frequency. Commonly implemented in: Mobile phones. Personal computers.
