1-Engine cutting out intermittently Problem with the engine cutting out intermittently? If so, the usual cause of this issue is a faulty crank angle sensor. You will most likely have the engine management warning light appear on the dashboard as well.

2-Erratic engine idling

If you are having problems with the engine idling very erratically, then it is usually due to a fault with the idle speed sensor. When this part fails, the rpm needle jumps up and down, instead of remaining at a constant speed. You may also find that the engine is cutting out, after idling like this for a short while.

3-Alternator failure

The alternator on the Liana is known for failing. If this part fails, then you will have a problem starting the car, with the cars electrics and problems charging its battery.

4-Gearbox problems There can be several different problems with the gearbox, ranging from minor issues, to complete gearbox failure. One of the main problems on the Liana is with the gear selection. This problem was caused by poor design of the gear change cable retaining clip. This issue was subject to a recall.
