We work to improve the life experience of our residents in all we do, thereby improving their heath and outlook. There are many different names for the roles of our team members, but each role falls into the ultimate realm of life enrichment. We share our talents and engage with residents at a deeper, much more personal level, sharing meaningful personal moments of joy. We often hear that this special ambiance makes Mayfair stand out to those who come visit us- not just prospects and their families, but vendors and other guests as well. People are making a choice to live here because they want the best life possible, the right resources, friendly faces, independence, and as much or as little support as they desire. Resident Spotlight By Stephanie Mulberry

Mayfair Village is very pleased to welcome Addie Justice to our growing community. Originally from Eastern Kentucky, Addie grew up in Pike County with her two siblings and her loving grandparents. She was very close with both of them, especially her grandmother whom she referred to as her best friend and most trusted confidant.

As an adult, Addie made family her top priority and very much enjoyed raising her two kids with her husband Monroe Justice. Monroe was a very successful engineer with Phillips Petroleum. His job became an adventure for the entire family as they had to move from state to state just about every two years. They were both very relieved to finally settle in Kentucky when he became the engineer on staff for West Hickman Creek Sewage Treat-ment Plant.

Addie is very proud of her children and the many wonderful things they have accom-plished. Her daughter Bev and son-in-law Jim are the proud owners of a local establishment, Cork and Barrel. Her son-in-law Jim also continues his love of radio, which began with his very own radio show at the age of only twelve years old! He is now co-hosting a radio show once a week called, the Jack Patty show. Addie’s son Terry is the Lacrosse coach for Tran-sylvania University and is solely responsible for bringing this exciting sport to the Blue-grass.

Addie is very excited to be here at Mayfair Village and is welcomed by new and old friends. She recently received a call from a friend from church asking if she likes living at Mayfair, in which her reply was that “the people at Mayfair Village are good, the food is good and to say anything negative about this place would be a sin!”

Food For Thought By Judy Potts

Please leave your feedback and suggestions in the Comment Box or stop us in the hallway.

August brings some of the best seasonal produce to the menu. We look forward to fresh bounties of locally-grown tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, greens, zucchini & cantaloupes. There’s no excuse for eating sugary desserts at this time of the year. Let your sweet tooth binge on fresh peaches, watermelon, strawberries and other garden-fresh fruits. Our menus incorporate several healthful items for you to choose from on a daily basis. Our plant-based choice and our farm fresh breakfast are permanent options on our lunch menu. We also have homemade bone broth, an orchard plate, our chicken salad and a cold platter which includes local produce. Green tea and treats will continue on Thursday afternoons. The popular event, Wine and Cheese will remain on Mondays from 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm in the solarium prior to dinner at 5:15 pm. If you are late to lunch, or feel like an afternoon snack, The Village Café is at your service by the solarium from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Our dining hours for dinner are 5:15 pm until 6:30 pm. I would like to reiterate that Mayfair is your home and we are here to serve you, as always. Please feel comfortable knowing that you may order as late as 6:30pm. For those of you wishing to dine later, please feel free to make yourself at home. Just know, my staff is tidying up out of necessity to stay busy, but they are available for anything you or your guests might like, coffee, tea, dessert. Opening up your home to spend time with family and friends while enjoying good food makes us all smile. Our goal is to keep you smiling and comfortable too! On Wednesday nights in August our Taste & Travel series returns, we are set to embark on a delicious summer to fall road trip. Our ‘road trip’ will be tasted through a recreation of culi-nary traditions and trends happening in different cities. The delectable menu offerings are all inspired by Guy Fieri’s hit show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Look for several ‘stops’ throughout our own Kentucky hometowns.

That same afternoon at 2:15pm we will step down memory lane with our ever-popular Back-to-School Social. Mrs. Cable may or may not have a pop quiz prepared, so bring your “A” game! Teachers assistants Jess, Sharye and Stephanie will be on hand to deliver your sack lunches and juice boxes. We will all lead class in songs that take you back to your school days, as seen above! Mark your calendars and don’t be tardy to the party. The Back to School theme will continue throughout the month with other opportunities for learning something new whether it be a TED talk, podcast or documentary. Be on the look-out for those fliers and information. August will also feature a new display of ‘school days’ memorabilia in the lobby cases.

Thank you to Ann Kercheval for always keeping the front cases fresh and unique!

The Dog Days Are Back By Karen Weckman

The hot, sultry days in August are here! Known as the Dog Days of Summer, this occurs during the period that Sirius, the Dog Star, rises at the same time as the sun. It is a period marked by lethargy, inactivity and thirst - Great thirst! We are committed at Mayfair Village to keeping you happy and hydrated during these hottest days of summer. So, on Sunday, August 25th at 4:30pm we will be hosting a Dog Days of Summer Celebration where you will be served Hot Dogs, and Cold Beer along with a side of pota-to salad and something sweet.
