THE COST OF YOUR NEW KITCHEN Let’s be honest, a new kitchen can be a major expense. It’s something you’ve probably thought about for a while, you’ve done some research, maybe have some ideas of what you like or possibly just don’t know where to start. Well, you’re in safe hands now. We’ve been designing and making kitchens for over 37 years, right here in the UK, so we really are experts and our business has been built on good quality, value for money products.

Our kitchens start at just £2,500 and can go to well over £25,000 but we always design to your budget, not ours. So, when you first come to see us and start looking at various styles, finishes and designs of kitchens, it helps to have a budget in mind – even if it’s just an approximate one.

We will always give you the best price we can – we don’t offer exaggerated discounts like 50% or more off. How genuine are those offers really?

There are lots of things to consider in the cost – it’s not just the units, worktops, handles and appliances. You may want to re-tile your floor, perhaps move some of the utility supplies around, have new lights that require some electrical work and of course there’s the fitting of your new kitchen.

It can seem overwhelming, but let us guide you through the process and you can be assured that you are buying a great kitchen that is value for money, will be expertly designed and will last. It will also be fitted by one of our experienced and reliable installation teams. After all, a great design is pointless if it’s not fitted properly.

PRICE PROMISEIn fact, we firmly believe that you cannot buy the same quality kitchen at a better price anywhere on the High Street today. If you do, we offer our PRICE PROMISE and will match it. Naturally there are some terms and conditions that apply, but this is a very genuine offer.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our products, the quality of our design and the quality of our service.

Come and talk to us and let us help you.

Did you know:The average price of a new kitchen is between £6,000 - £8,000?

At that time, we made just 3 ranges — hence the 3 in our name, using second hand machinery. Taking care over each one and making it to our customers’ exact requirements. As our reputation grew, so did demand and we soon started to outgrow our workshop, moving to new premises as we made more kitchens in more finishes.

Over the years, our business growth has been steady and consistent and today, we have a 50,000 square foot factory with state of the art equipment, just 8 miles from where we originally started. We’ve expanded as a direct result of selling more kitchens — the way a secure business should.

It’s a great feeling being a British manufacturer — we own our own factory and employ local skilled staff, many of whom have been with us for years. We still take the same care over each and every kitchen that we make. To us, it makes sense to produce quality products, that give great value for money so that we have happy customers who will recommend us and come back next time they want a new kitchen.

It’s the way we’ve always done business.

Did you know:All our kitchens are made in our own factory, here in the UK. Something we’re very proud of.

CENTRALE LIGHT OAK The beautiful real oak veneer with its horizontal grain on the doors, is set off here by the bright worktops and then the dramatic impact of the striking dark breakfast bench. Three different finishes, all working beautifully together.

1. Use bright colours on a splashback, feature wall or accessories to lift a plain kitchen.

2. Choose stylish appliances that look good, and work well.

3. Chunky, sleek or multifunctional — taps are probably the most used item in a kitchen.

4. Maximise space in corners with clever storage solutions such as this Magic Corner. We’ve got a video showing it in action on our website – take a look.

5. Use different worksurfaces to define areas – food preparation, cooking, eating.

INNOVATIVE DESIGNThe property was a large detached family house, with a surprisingly small kitchen, so a huge extension was planned for an open plan kitchen/ dining/ living area. With high ceilings and bi-fold doors, overlooking the garden, it’s now a great space.

Tony and Alex Crane approached us after having tried several other kitchen companies — but all had put a wider, shorter island near the windows leaving quite a bit of unused space at the other end of the room. Our designer, Martyn Harris was the only one to suggest a longer, narrower island, which worked much better.

THE FINISHING TOUCHESUsing 2 different finishes — Nixon sand gloss and Samsa’s textured red brown highland oak on the doors, and then encasing with white corian worktops created a stunning kitchen Great planning makes the kitchen work well — such as having the sink, dishwasher and cutlery drawers right next to each other. To the other side of the sink is a waste disposal unit with different bins for general rubbish and various recycling.

As Alex said, “You don’t realise what a difference the layout makes until you start using it — it’s so much easier”

Integrated appliances built into the bank of units include a large fridge, a freezer, coffee maker and microwave. A practical solution but also very stylish with the red-brown surround and plinth lighting.

Name: Dr and Mrs Crane

Type of property: Detached family house

Although the island has an open area at the end, with the overlapping worksurface all the way along, it will accommodate seats all the way down if necessary.

Create defined areas: Using different heights of cabinets and worktops helps to create clearly defined areas within your kitchen. Here, a lower level eating area is separated from the food preparation and washing area, although the same worktop links them together to give a smooth transition.

LIVING THE DREAMRay and Helen Dunscombe had already chosen their dream kitchen, 3 years prior to actually getting it. They’d seen the warm cream gloss Sabonne doors in one of our showrooms, and had a design created for them, but it hadn’t been the right time to buy.

So, after a few years, they started looking at other styles and getting a variety of different designs, but then came back to their original choice and that very first design.

“It was still the best design — the layout, the mixture of units and all the storage” says Helen.

CREATIVE SPACEMaximising cupboard space had been particularly important, so their Kitchen Designer, created a bank of floor to ceiling units, encased in the Samsa natural aragon oak, with a selection of deep drawers, vertical and horizontal units to maintain a stylish look. Finished with a small curved unit which blends the kitchen into the cosy seating area around the corner.

With its mixture of cream gloss doors, light aragon oak panels and the dark worktops this is a very welcoming kitchen, and the lights in the plinths and the frosted glass unit create a great atmosphere at night. As Helen says “this is a very sociable kitchen — we’ve had some great parties here and the open wine rack is very handy!”

Name: Mr and Mrs Dunscombe

Type of property: Detached family house

Favourite feature:“ My favourite part of the kitchen, is my spice rack!”

With deep drawers below the hob for saucepans and a Le Mans corner storage unit that pulls out, the planning of this area has made cooking hassle free.

Fabulous design, great quality and good service. Now it’s your turn. Locations of all our showrooms are on the back cover.

TATE LIGHT OAKBeautiful, warm oak styled in a chunky shaker finish with wide borders around the cabinets and drawers. Unusual bi-fold wall units that lift upwards for ease, with wide shelves giving lots of storage.

Style tip:Use accessories that complement your kitchen, in a similar style. The chunky borders of the doors here, are matched with a chunky square style tap and straight wide handles. Little details make a big difference!

SHELBY MUSSEL / CINNAMON In our Shelby range, we have 19 different finishes available — some painted, some stained. With the stained colours, you really get to see the grain of wood and whether you go for a single colour throughout, two complementary shades or even a neutral main colour for all the wall units and then something dramatic on an island, they are all designed to work well together. MELBOURNE IVORY / STONE Looking for a stylish shaker style finish in some subtle hues? Our Melbourne range comes in 6 gentle shades, each complementing the other so they look great when 2 shades are combined in one room. Try wall units in one colour, base ones in another. Or to make a focal point of an area, for example an island or the area around the hob, focus a different colour there to the rest of your kitchen.

Have a worktop at a height to showcase gadgets, ornaments, cook books or anything else you’d like out on display. Or why not have a few glass fronted cabinets so that your favourite kitchenware can be seen? Putting colourful items in these cabinets, and having internal lighting can be beautifully eyecatching, especially at night.

CHOSEN RANGESThis was a large room with windows at either end, plus another looking out to the side of the house, so there was lots of natural light flooding in and our clients wanted to maximise this. They also wanted a fairly traditional style of kitchen, so chose the solid oak Harmony range in two lovely painted shades — powder blue and white cotton. Zodiac quartz composite solid worktops were then chosen for strength and hygiene. HOW THE KITCHEN IS USEDAs a keen cook and baker, the lady of the house needed a lot of storage for ingredients, and a kitchen that was ergonomically designed, so that when she was busy cooking everything was in easy reach and appliances were close to each other. FAVOURITE FEATUREThe wine cooler has been very popular! Great for storing wine — both red and whiteat the right temperature it’s near the large dinner table overlooking the garden soperfect for entertaining.

Favourite feature:

A built in under counter wine cooler fits neatly amongst the other cabinets is unobtrusive as well as being very convenient.

Style tip:Solid wood worktops really suit this kitchen, and here we’ve styled the ends of the island to create a breakfast bench. Granite would also give a very luxurious feel. Why not combine both to differentiate the food preparation and eating areas? We can cut worktops to any shape and fit them together for a smooth finish.

FLORENCE IVORY This range comes in a beautiful selection of painted colours, all of which work well together. Why not mix and match, or try all ivory units for a light, fresh look and introduce a vibrant colour with a feature wall? Traditional wall colours would work well with the classic styling of this kitchen, like the regency red used here.

HARMONY WHITE COTTON / POWDER BLUE A fresh colour scheme, with painted powder blue and the warmth of white cotton, creates a very stylish kitchen. Even though the styling is quite traditional, with the mantle around the oven and pilasters on the island, there’s also quite a modern feel with the hi-tech appliances and brushed stainless steel knobs. For tips on how to combine modern and traditional features, talk to your Kitchen Designer.

HARMONY OAK / CREAM Solid oak doors, combined with cream painted ash ones, both have intricate details and regular panelling — this is a very traditional kitchen with a luxurious look, especially with the dark granite worktop which has also been used for the splashbacks behind the hob and under the wall cabinets.

Wide drawers are also available in Samsa, Sienna, Lister and Luxor.

Just imagine how convenient it would be to open one drawer and see everything stored together?

They come in widths of up to 2 metres, so the front will always look like one single flat drawer. Behind that though, you can have 2 or even 3 individual drawers depending on the width. This means each individual drawer box can hold 65kg — more than twice the normal capacity of a standard drawer. That’s very efficient storage!

With the sides having our 650mm tall pan sides as standard, everything will be securely contained and if you need more drawer dividers or cutlery trays, we’ve got these as optional extras for you.

SOLID WOODGreat for food preparation and eating areas, such as an island and suits most kitchen styles. Mix with stainless steel or glass for a modern look or granite for a more traditional one. Requires regular treatment with oil to seal the wood.

QUARTZComprising of 94% natural material and 6% resin, this is tough and very hardwearing with built-in antibacterial protection. It’s highly resistant to stains and scratches with low levels of moisture absorption. Available in a wide range of colours and finishes – a great choice for a kitchen.

CORIANThis is the original solid surface. It’s stain resistant, easy to clean and because it’s non-porous, it’s also very hygienic. It can be made into many different shapes, so it’s popular for integrated sinks and worktops where a seamless finish is required, and is available is a very wide selection of colours.

LAMINATEThese surfaces are great at looking like other materials such as wood, granite or slate, so can be a much cheaper option. Suitable for general use as well as around sinks or hob areas and is heat resistant upto 180 degrees. Very low maintenance and resistant to most stains.

GRANITEA luxury material suited to any style of kitchen. A glossy polished surface looks stunning, especially on a large island but it can also be finished in a matt way for a contemporary look. This natural material is low maintenance — able to withstand high temperatures, is water resistant and fairly stain resistant too, although wine should be wiped up straight away if spilt.

Tips:Use worktops of different materials or different heights to define areas of your kitchen — like food preparation and eating.

Tips:Chunky worktops on a breakfast bar with a matching gable end down to the floor, for an urban look where you don’t have room for a table.

Tips:We can create any shape worktop for you. Want it curved? Just round edges, or chunky with stepped edges. Talk to your Designer about what we can do.

The best way to help you choose a worktop, is to come along to your nearest showroom, see and feel the wide choice of samples and get some advice – we’ll be happy to help you.

OVENS Convectional ovens feature top (grill) and bottom heating elements, so tend to be hotter at the top and do need to be pre-heated. With a fan oven, the desired temperature can be reached quickly and by circulating air, allows cooking on all shelves at an even temperature.

The latest multi functional ovens combine the best of convectional and fan technology with extra features, such as different heat types for cooking specific foods and microwave facilities too. Many also have steam functions too, which preserve nutrients, colour and texture in vegetables and fish.

Latest developments in oven design include doors that open and slide underneath like the Neff SlideAway or Caple’s side opening door which many people find easier to use.

Self cleaning ovens (pyrolytic) are also increasingly popular. Able to heat up to temperatures of around 500 degrees, they burn off grease and residue which can be easily wiped away.

INDUCTION HOBSTransform your cooking with an induction hob. Cleverly using magnetic fields to heat the pan itself rather than the hob, this is a quicker and more economical way to cook compared to gas or ceramic. It’s safer too as the hob doesn’t get very hot, plus there’s a child lock to stop little fingers interfering with the touch controls.

INTEGRATED APPLIANCESHaving integrated appliances gives a much neater look to your kitchen — everything is hidden away behind matching doors. We’ve got fridges, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines — all in various shapes and sizes. Pop in and see what’s available.

MICROWAVESA built in microwave can save a lot of countertop space. It can be housed next to your oven, or perhaps next to the fridge or freezer so that food can be taken out and immediately cooked or defrosted.

WINE COOLERSPerhaps seen as a bit of a ‘luxury’, it’s surprising how many people say their wine cooler is their favourite item in a kitchen. Storing wine — red and white, at the perfect temperature. We’ve got various sizes — depending on how much space you have, and how much you like wine!

EXTRACTOR FANSThese no longer have to be just functional, they can be incredibly stylish too. Some look like modern sculpture and lamps others like chandeliers or disco balls!

COFFEE MACHINESFancy a flat white or a macchiato at the touch of a button? Why not have one installed into a bank of high units and start your very own café society at home?

The sink in your kitchen may well be the most used item in it — washing hands, washing up, filling the kettle, rinsing vegetables, so it needs to be not only highly functional but also suit the style and look of your new kitchen.BUT HOW DO YOU START DECIDING WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE? Begin with how many bowls you need — if it’s just for running water as you use your dishwasher for washing up, you may only need a single bowl. If you have a large family or do a lot of food preparation, a double or even triple sink may be more useful.

Then decide on the material you want.

STAINLESS STEELStill the most popular choice — it doesn’t stain, is easy to clean and is good for the environment. They can scratch, but with a brushed or linear finish it’ll be less noticeable.

COMPOSITEIncreasingly popular, these sinks are made from granite which is ground down and mixed with resin, so they’re very hard wearing and resistant to scratches and stains. Available in a wide range of colours and finishes.

CERAMIC SINKSTraditional in style with an attractive glaze finish, Belfast or Butler sinks are the most popular and really suit traditional kitchens with their classic shape.

GLASS SINKSToughened safety glass is used which is naturally scratch, stain and heat resistant. Offering a very contemporary look and feel, they come in an amazing array of colours.

UNDER MOUNTED OR INSET?If you want a streamlined look between your worktops and sink, then have it undermounted which is much more unobtrusive. Or have it beautifully moulded into your worktop using Corian.

Talk to your Kitchen Designer about the best type of sink for you and whether inset or under mounted would look best.

Tips:Accessories such as chopping boards and wire draining baskets that fit over the sink when not in use, offer extra worktop space.

A waste disposal unit built into your sink will get rid of your food waste quickly and hygienically.

TAPSThe tap in your kitchen will probably be in constant use, so it’s worth investing in the best you can afford. Maybe you’d find a pull out spray nozzle handy for rinsing out pots and pans or a touch control tap for extra dirty hands? If you’re a fan of filtered water, why not get a tap system with the usual hot and cold options, plus a third lever which supplies filtered drinking water?

Another great money and energy saving option is to install a tap that provides instant 100°C water at the push of a button. Convenient, efficient and good for the environment because you just use exactly what you need, when you need it. So why not recycle your old kettle instead?

HANDLES

It’s often the small details that can make a big impact in your new kitchen. Such as handles. We offer such a wide selection, that it can be difficult knowing just where to start — what shape, colour, finish, even size?

Most of our handles actually go with most of our kitchens, although some naturally are more suited to certain ranges. Round wooden knobs look great on traditional country style kitchens, whilst long chunky brush metal bars have a much more urban and contemporary feel.

But it’s your kitchen, so go with your own personal taste and choose ones that suit your lifestyle.

n Long brushed stainless steel effect bar handles for a streamlined finish.

n For a very minimalist look, these stainless steel

effect pull handles don’t distract you from these textured slab drawers.

n These chunky brushed chrome D handles go

well with the shaker style of these gloss doors.
