The New Year brings new hope, and for military veterans, it is another year to prove themselves and look for jobs that would need their services.

Veterans, like any other able citizen, seek employment especially in this trying time. It is necessary to have a stable source of income in order to survive.

However, not a lot of veterans are given the chance to prove themselves.

Some employers avoid some hire vets program and hire veteran campaigns because of the notion that veterans can be violent and that they cannot adapt to the culture of a regular employment.



Employment for Veterans in 2013

Though not all employers have this notion today, there is an increase of employers and companies who are opening their doors to hire vets programs and actually hire veteran employees to fill up the empty position within the company.



In 2012, a lot of companies announced their willingness to hire vets.

Together with many government agencies such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Education, Department of Defense and other bureaus, these companies aim to help veterans recover from the trauma of the war and allow them to reintegrate into society as soon as possible.



Why hire vets?

Aside from these, a lot of these companies have also realized the advantages of hiring veterans in supervisory positions because of their natural ability, to lead people and adapt to any situations.

They are also hired for technical computer related position because of the vast knowledge and experience that technical veteran experts have acquired during the war.



Aside from this, veterans are also known to be loyal individuals who will see their mission through the end making them an asset for companies.

The intense discipline of veterans can also be a good example for civilian employees.



Some companies like USAA and CSX Corporation led other companies in a survey that aimed to list the top 100 military friendly companies and other famous companies like Procter and Gamble and Cisco were included in the list.

In the later part of 2012, Safeway Company announced its intention to hire around 1,000 veteran employees for the year 2013.



Safeway, Inc. has expanded its support to the veteran society in 2012 when they hire vets employees. The total number of veteran employees working for Safeway, Inc. in 2012 was around 1,300.

Aside from this, the company is also known for its effort to raise funds to help military personnel and veterans recover from the injuries that they have incurred during their time in the field.



There are many companies like Safeway, Inc. that not only provide jobs for vets but have also conducted fund raising events that aimed to help veterans, their family and the force.

These companies are the ones that uphold the self-esteem of our veterans and their families.



To hire vets is not only beneficial for the veterans themselves, but also for the company that hires them.

The discipline, experience and expertise of these people are highly valuable for many companies.

In addition, hiring veterans can also be good for the company's reputation.
