Football is very, very popular in Alabama. College football is the
most popular, but high school football is also very popular. Every
Friday night during the Fall, thousands of people attends high
school football games. This infographic talks about why high
school football is extremely popular in Alabama!
The Community Spirit
From logos painted on the street, honoring
people before the game, and school pep
rallies. Community spirit is very high at
every high school football game.
Honor America Before The Game
Alabama and the South is very patriotic
and supports America. Expect to hear the
National Anthem and see the American
Flag raised at every game!
The Paper Signs
Many schools have their cheerleaders
make unique paper signs for the football
team to run through before each game.
The signs can be very creative!
The Opening Introductions
Each school has different ways to welcome
their hometown football team. You see
the band, cheerleaders, school kids, and
people on the field!
The Halftime Show
One of the best parts of a high school
football game is the halftime show! Not
only you hear some great music, you also
see some stunts/props as well!
The Concession Stand
The concession stand not only supports
the schools and extra programs. Many
stands have also gotten very creative with
their unique food selections.
The Hits And Touchdowns
Football features a lot of touchdowns and
hits. The home crowd celebrates a
touchdown from the home team, or a big
hit from the home team.
The Cheerleaders
Every school has cheerleaders! The girls
and guys will cheer on the sidelines and
pump up the crowd and the team. Some
squads also performs moves at a game.
The Coaches
Every football team has a coach, and the
crowd loves it when a coach shows some
anger or emotion from the sidelines.
Especially if a bad call was made!
The Mascots
Every football game and school also has
the mascots! Not only they roam the
sidelines, they also go into the stands and
makes the kids very happy!
The Referees
The referees have a tough job. From the
coin toss to the final whistle, the refs
work under a lot of pressure to get the call
right. There’s no replay in HS football.
After The Game
After the game, you usually see both teams
shaking hands, the coaches from both
teams shaking hands, and an after the game
pep talk, unless the game was tough.
After The Game Review Shows
Local TV and radio stations not only
broadcast high school football games, they
also do hours long review / recap shows of
high school football as well!
Honoring God
This is the South, and faith and
Christianity is strong! Most football games
will feature a student led prayer, and even
Christian signs and mascots.
High school football are huge fundraisers for schools and the
community themselves. Go out and support your community by
attending your local high school football game. All photos in this
