Thermal Shock to Seal
Cause: Excessive Vibration/Imbalance• Breakagenormallyoccursaroundbearingsupport• Resultofvibrationorimbalanceresultingfrom awornfanclutchorbentfan• Tightenbeltswithabelttensioner• Checkconditionoffan/fanclutch• Evenlytightenallmountingbolts
Cause: Excessive Torque When Mounting• Overtighteningboltscausehousingtoshatter• Usecorrecttightningsequenceifapplicable• Usemaximum22ft./lbs.whentightening
Cause: Adding Coolant to a Hot System• Nosignsofcontaminationpresent• Damageappearsasadiametricalcrackacross sealfaceormatingring• Fillsystemwithcoolantbeforestartingengine• Ifoverheated,allowenginetocoolbefore fillingsystemwithcoolant
