Why do it?
PDHPE
We all want our kids to make the right choices in life
We all want all our children to
become successful learners,
confident and creative
individuals, active and informed citizens
The PDHPE program in schools’ makes a unique contribution to the total school learning in that it is directly concerned with supporting the development of the
student as a whole person.
The Australian governments’
educational policies promote this too.
If our children are to become happy, healthy, responsible and productive people in our
society, theyneed to develop relevant knowledge, skills and
values.PDHPE is an important key learning area for
students and the community because it:
promotes lifelong
involvement in physical
activity.
encourages an
understanding and
valuing of oneself and
others
develops an ability in students to make
informed decisions in their lives
PDHPE is concerned with………
• developing the individual
holistically • Improving the
quality of life for all students
• encouraging students to develop a
commitment to life planning.
• providing and promoting
opportunities for participation in
regular and varied physical activity.
• important issues facing society today, taught in a
manner that supports parents role, contextually.
• addressing personal and community health
issues sensitively, including drug
education and child protection.
