• Left to himself man turns more & more to sin Gen. 6:5

• Sin puts man in hopeless condition Ephesians 2:1-3

Why?

SinLove• God had to intervene Ephesians 2:4-8

• He wanted to do something about sin Isaiah 1:18-20

• Jesus died on the cross because of the tremendous love of God John 3:14-17; 15:13

Why Jesus?

• There was no one else! Isaiah 41:27-42:3

• The Passover Lamb Exodus 12:5– Without blemish = perfect– Sacrifice for sins must be without

blemish– Only a sinless man could offer himself in

our stead

• Jesus became our Passover 1 Corinthians 5:7

• He was God’s Lamb John 1:29• He is our perfect High Priest Hebrews

Why Did Jesus Die?

• The wages of sin is death Romans 6:23

• So God could to be just and forgive sins Rom. 3:23-26– Redemption – to buy back– Propitiation – an appeasement of God’s

wrath

• That we might be cleansed from sin Hebrews 9:11-15

• Redeemer had to die without sin 1 Peter 1:18-20

Why On The Cross?

• To show the vileness of sin Galatians 3:13– Jesus had to become a curse for us– The death that we all deserved

• So we might appreciate how much God loves us 1 John 4:9-10

• To demonstrate the commitment God demands– Take up your cross and follow Me Mark

Why Did Jesus DieOn The Cross?

To redeem us from the curse of

sin

No one else could save us

No other way for us to be saved

What Must I Do To Be Saved?You believe in God, believe also in

Me. John 14:1 Unless you repent, you likewise

will perish. Luke 13:3 Confess Me before men, and I’ll

confess you before My Father. Matthew 10:32

He that believes and is baptized shall be saved Mark 16:16
