• 2)в данной конструкции могут употребляться инфинитивы как переходных, так и непереходных глаголов, т. е. с предлогами и без предлогов, например: This musical instrument is unpleasant to listen to. The instrument is difficult to play.

• 3) после инфинитива с предлогом или без предлога воз-можно употребление других членов предложения, например: This instrument is impossible to play in the street. The toy is impossible to play with indoors.

Прилагательное + инфинитив Когда прилагательное выступает в качестве комплемента (то есть,

употребляется после глагола-связки), оно может употребляться вместе с инфинитивом (или инфинитивным оборотом), образуя конструкцию прилагательное + инфинитив (инфинитивный оборот):

• We are happy that we are hearing the news.• We are happy to hear the news.• We were pleased that we received the letter.• We were pleased to receive the letter.• They were sad when they heard about his death.• They were sad to hear about his death.• They were excited when they heard about the birth of her baby.• They were excited to hear about the birth of her baby.
