WHO’S WHO IN PRIVATE Schools & CAMPS2014BROWARD’S PREMIER GUIDE FOR EDUCATION & RECREATION
At Beth Emet Elementary School, students reach their full potential through a challenging, academically advanced curriculum and a warm, supportive environment that promotes critical thinking, creative expression, self-esteem, and Jewish ethics. With emphasis on intellectual, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual growth, students acquire the tools that will serve them through any path that their lives will follow.
Embracing the whole child philosophy, our rich curriculum and passionate approach to learning and teaching stimulates students to grow and develop, gain confi dence, and take risks. Beginning in Kindergarten, students are instructed in a wide variety of academic subject areas that include: Language Arts and Literature, Math, Science, Social Studies, Hebrew and Judaic Studies, Chess, Sports, Swimming, Music Appreciation, Art Appreciation, Spanish, Agronomy, and Dance. Cross curricular technology integration enhances interactive learning, with SMART Boards, Google Chromebooks, Tablets, iPads, and a computer lab.
Our low student/teacher ratios facilitate
multi-track curricular implementation and individual student learning. With the focus on cultivation of life long skills, students are encouraged to think critically and independently, develop solid organization, and study habits, and become profi cient in both spoken and written communicative expression.
Beth Emet Elementary recognizes the signifi cance of instilling in its students a healthy awareness of the world around them, and the accountability for taking action to make it a better place. Our school spirit promotes Jewish ethics and character building, fostering a culture of respect and responsibility. Students are empowered with a sense of empathy, compassion, and confl ict resolution skills to guide them in their interpersonal relationships.
We are committed to helping our students reach their full potential, both academically and as contributing members of society.
We invite you to tour our school and learn more about our innovative approach to education. To schedule a personal tour please call the school offi ce at 954-680-1882.

It’s clear that Beth Emet Elementary has surpassed our expectation in the education of our children.
If you are of a certain age, memories of Jewish schools, however fond, probably do not include innovative curricula, state-of-the-art S.T.E.M. facilities, advanced technology, award-winning music and theater programs, and winning sports teams. At David Posnack Jewish Day School (Posnack) and the Paul & Maggie Fischer High School these are everyday realities for students.
General and Jewish learning reinforce each other to create well-rounded students ready to take on the challenges of 21st-century living, including the important challenge of what it means to live in a community and be active contributors to civic life. One thing that sets Posnack apart is its dedication to inclusivity, accepting students without regard to affi liation to any one type of Judaism. As a result, the school’s diverse student body truly represents the full spectrum of Jewish life in South Florida.
In the face of falling math scores in the State and nationwide, Posnack has instituted Singapore Math and abacus math instruction in the Lower and
Middle Schools to reverse these trends. By developing greater ability to visualize and do mental math, students improve their numeracy and problem solving skills. The middle and high schools use one-to-one tablet technology daily to enhance learning, while the Lower School students utilize iPads daily. Posnack is now taking technology to the next level by launching a TV production studio for Fischer High students. Graduates rank in the top 5% of college applicants nationwide and are admitted to the fi nest colleges and universities in the United States and around the world. Posnack is truly training South Florida’s future leaders.
The school is located in Davie on the beautiful 40-acre Posnack JCC campus. The students have full access to the facilities. Posnack boasts extensive athletic programs with more than 22 teams to join including boys and girls varsity basketball, soccer, swimming, and new this year, lacrosse. Technology, athletics, the arts, and innovative teaching methods add up to making Posnack South Florida’s premier K-12 college preparatory school.

At Posnack, we are preparing the next generation of Jewish leaders.
On a vibrant, expansive campus that currently houses nearly 2,000 students in prekindergarten through grade 12, University School students enjoy a challenging academic curriculum with a wide range of choices, strong fi ne and performing arts options, and a robust athletic program. University School helps develop global leaders who acquire the knowledge, skills, and habits that are required for them to be successful. This year, the Robotics Team won the highest award at their recent tournament, the speech and debate team ranks in the top 1 percent in the nation (third year in a row), and our chess teams scored among the top fi ve in their grade-defi ned sections and qualifi ed for the chess championship (third year in a row)!
Starting as early as prekindergarten, University School sets a foundation for success and a love for learning in a child-centered environment. Active learning, personalized instruction, and skilled teachers (75 percent have advanced degrees)—who use a combination of developmental theories to design a unique learning program for each child—are the hallmarks of University School’s early childhood programs and set it apart from other schools.
While there are many resources
available to students who attend University School, its location on the campus of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is a unique advantage. University School’s collaboration with NSU—the ninth largest, not-for-profi t, private university in the nation—offers our students a host of opportunities.
As part of NSU, University School affords students unprecedented access to college-level resources, which gives students an advantage as they prepare for post-secondary school life. University School has a number of innovative academic programs where collaboration with NSU has led to new levels of research and scholarly achievement. Many University School students are Science Research Program participants, Robotics Team members, Independent Research Study participants, Math Fellows, and Writing Fellows. Through these affi liations, they have the opportunity to work alongside and share a campus with world-class NSU scientists, researchers, and distinguished professors, who visit University School classrooms and mentor students.
University School has the right formula and the right environment to promote all students’ abilities to learn, grow, and succeed academically, socially, and personally.

Weston Christian Academy has been shaping young hearts and minds through its academic and spiritual programs since it was established in 1995. The school serves students of Christian families, from preschool aged students of 3 years of age through the 8th grade. The school has become well known for its Classical approach in academics as well as its new state-of-the-art Science labs for elementary and middle school students, computer labs, laptop and Ipad mobile labs, new outdoor playgrounds, library, indoor gym, and student center, where weekly chapels are held.
WCA’s rigorous academic programs and low student-teacher ratios have earned the school a ranking in the top 10 percent of schools nationally, when compared to other schools who take the
IOWA exam. Much of this success can be attributed to a classical education that emphasizes reading great literature, excellence in writing, learning grammar at the early grades, strong math skills, and most importantly, a thorough knowledge and understanding of God’s Word. In an effort to educate the whole child, students are exposed to music, drama, and the visual arts. They attend special classes such as: Computers, Library, Latin, Art, Band, Music, Chorus, Physical Education, and Spanish.
Middle schools students have an opportunity to take high school level courses and compete in several sports (fl ag football, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, volleyball) as part of the Independent Athletic League and the FHSAA.
