Those of us here at Bhakti-Bheka that have been engaged with Yoga since the 70’s know the spiritual side of yoga and how important it is. Being in a space of centeredness, being part of a community that is conscious, and caring about contributing uplifting energy into the world is a result for us from our involvement with yoga. In more recent times, the yoga industry has seen many arriving participating businesses and individuals lacking this commitment. Now there are large corporations managing studios, trainings and supply chains that have little or no allegiance to the yoga movement or way of life. They have brought with them the same energy that many of us strive to avoid wherever possible: lack of flexibility, insensitivity, marketing hype in place of education, products that are mediocre or worse, high prices relative to quality, and a willingness to manipulate in their marketing.

The TRANSFORMER MAT has the special quality of transforming any type of surface it is placed upon into “the ideal yoga studio floor." Each mat is ~26" wide, 7 mm thick (1⁄4"), and is available in charcoal.

Our “cotton yoga mat rugs” (CYMR), also re-ferred to as Mysore Practice Rugs or just practice ruts. Traditionally used for Ashtanga (power) Yoga, they are recommended by Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India for that use. They are particularly used for any athletic or otherwise sweat-producing yoga prac-tice like Bikram, Ashtanga or Vinyasa Yoga.

These lovely, tightly woven 100% Cotton Yoga Mat Rugs are considered by most to be the first mats ever used for Yoga. These practice rugs are one of the most eco-friendly yoga mats available, are completely biodegradeable and are PVC free.For the adept yoga practitioner, these cotton mat rugs are the alternative to common “yoga mats.”

The Cotton Yoga Mat Rugs are not for unaware beginners because they do not provide the “non-slip” characteristics that good yoga mats provide. When damp from perspiration or from lightly spraying with a mist of water, they do have more of a non-slip characteristic.

We offer one version of our Cotton Yoga Mat Rug with a coated non-slip (thin layer of latex) backing, greatly minimizing it’s movement, which may hap-pen with the uncoated version.

This mat is a typical “inex-pensive” mat, certainly not worse than what we see in the marketplace. It’s performance is also typical, that is generally slicker than is desired, but none-the-less used by a lot of beginners that do not know better or who have budget constraints. In the budget category these mats excel - they are, well - cheap. Available in Blue and Purple.

This mat performs very well. Compared to the LongLife standard mats, it is about 80-85% of the non-slip characteristics - which is still very good. What we have no meaningful real world data on is the real world life expectancy for these at

this time. The facts about 100% biodegradable are unverified by us, though we currently are accepting this as accurate. Currently available only in camel color.

Manufactures statement: The eco-friendly Jute and PER mat is a biodegradable, environmentally conscious mat. The jute fibers in this mat offer the strength of

conventional fiberglass mesh; yet decompose easily in landfill conditions in the event your mat ends up in a landfill.

Jute plants take only 4-5 months to grow to maturity, making them a sustainable resource. They clean the air by consuming carbon dioxide, and the leaves are a

natural soil conditioner. It’s clearly a smart and naturally beautiful choice for a cleaner and safer environment.
