Term 4 is moving along very quickly. This week and next week a number of students are participating in the Intensive Swimming Program.
Recently we had a number of year 11 students visit from Al Zahra College http://www.azc.nsw.edu.au in Sydney doing their International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program. The students were undertaking the CAS (Community, Action and
Service) program in which their task was to fundraise and benefit a certain group of their choice- they chose Nemarluk School. The money will support the Sister School project with Aileu School in Timor Leste and resources will be taken over on the next school visit in 2018. Students and staff at Nemarluk School would like to say a big thank you to Al Zahra School for making this special connection with our school community here and in Timor Leste.
On Tuesday we had the Hot100 car visit our school for the Apple for the Teachers Promotion. We have had one teacher nominated. Please vote for our teacher Kristi Moseley https://www.hot100fm.com.au/win/apple-for-the-teacher-2017 scroll down select Nemarluk School and vote away!! Don’t forget the upcoming Working Bee at Alawa Farm– we hope to see some staff and families support this event. As part of our partnership with Alawa School.

A day with Al Zahra College Students!
Nemarluk School received a special call from Al Zahra College saying they would like to come and visit
and donate resources and money for our school! It was a great surprise and……
The day was full of fun and laughs as we all shared our world. A day at Nemarluk!
On Thursday Mohammed and his friends from Al Zahra College came to our school. We showed them around Alawa
Farm and after that we had scones and cream and fruit for morning tea. We had so much fun together! - Toby
We played soccer and the boys won the game. Hassan was a good player. Mohammed was a good goal keeper. We wish we
could go to Sydney to play another game with them at their school. Our friends are good sportsmanship players. - Jamal
I liked that there was 4 Mohammed’s at our school that visited us. It was like two twins. - Roanin
Mohammed was busy making money for our school. - Harsh
I had the best time with all the Sydney boys, I wish I could go and visit them and see their school. - Aaron
It was a good time, we talked lots about computer games. - Leigh
Nemarluk School would like to say a huge thank - you to the
students from Al Zahra College for their generous donation and
visit to our school!

The Northern Territory Back to School Payment Scheme
Policy has been updated to provide better clarity around the
use of the scheme, including providing a choice of appropriate
goods and services.
To further assist in understanding the scheme, supporting
Guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions are now also
available on the department’s website.
The purpose of the Back to School Payment Scheme remains
unchanged - to assist families with the costs of getting their
children back to school at the beginning of the school year.
The scheme entitlement is to the value of $150 of eligible
goods and services per enrolled student and is redeemable
from the school at which the student first attends.
Goods and services must assist with educational outcomes. It
provides eligible students with an entitlement to receive
educational items in each school year, with these items to be
purchased only from the eligible student’s school. The scheme
entitlement is not intended to support the provision of standard
curriculum or to redeem parent voluntary contributions.
In Term 4, 2017, you will receive information on how you can
redeem the Back to School Payment Scheme for 2018.
Please come along and support our next

Timely tips on Head Lice/Nits.
Although they are not known to transmit any infectious diseases head lice can cause itch and irritation, leading to sleep disturbance and behavioral problems.
No products available actually prevent head lice but the following routine can help reduce the risk of spread.
Treating any visible eggs/lice with occlusive product such as Hedrin (recommended as safe and effective by NT Department of Health). Be sure to follow instructions on packaging and repeat treatment one week later.
Weekly hair and scalp checks
Wet combing frequently with nit combs
Avoid sharing brushes, combs, hats
Washing brushes and combs frequently in hot soapy water
Keeping long hair braided or tied back.
