Who would be the audience for your media product?

Who are my target audience?My magazine is aimed at young adults majority young females who are of the age of 17+ and who are interested in black culture of celebrities and music. The age that it will be aimed for is 17+. I will also target my audience for those who have an interest of R&B, neo-soul and house music. How ever, my music magazine will have a different content instead of just music such as fashion and gossip.This will able all types of audience not just music listeners and engage the fashion industry consumers.

Why have I chosen this target audience?I have personally chosen this age range for my magazine because I feel that there isn’t enough of this genre in the market and also I feel that black females need to be advertised more positively.

I can also produce a lot of information from my target audience as majority of my friends are black females who are of the age of 17+ and have an interest in the music genres I will portray in my magazine.

Genre of my music magazine?The genre of my magazine which I have chosen is R&B, neo-soul and house music. I choose those three genres as they’re the most popular in the 21st century and is one of the best genres worldwide.

I feel that this type of music has a large target audience as many people are listeners of the music genres.Typical artist that would be seen in my magazine would be Beyonce, Drake, Erykah Badu and Disclosure; as they’re the most popular in their genre.In my contents page a list of top names in the industry are given to appeal to my target audience.As my target audience is also for those interested in fashion and gossip I have included those aspects in my contents page.

What do my audience want?

They would like to know what are the top songs, best new artists both in UK and USA all the latest fashion and what is up and happening with celebrities and their lifestyle. They want an advice Colum in anything they ask for. Something that keeps them updated with everything in the music and celebrity world to make them feel up to date in the music industry. To tell them stories that haven’t yet been released. Bold colours and which attract their eyes and top artists that will make them want to buy/read the magazine.

The price of my magazine iwhich is £1.20 is also ideal for my target audience as it is affordable as my target audience is targeted at students their income isn’t as high so it is easy to purchase through their part time jobs.
