In Belgium, membership of the sector trade association isnot mandatory. However, this membership enhances theinterprofessionalsolidarity,whichisofutmostimportancenowthatcompetition is growing sharper by the day.

Febelfin, the Belgian Financial Sector Federation, is the umbrellaorganisation and anon-profitassociation.

Febelfin aims to bring together financial service providers & everyonestrivingforafuture-prooffinancialsector.

Febelfin defendstheviewsandinterestsofitsmembersandacceptsthechallengeofplayinganimportantroleasabridgebetweenitsmembersanda rangeof national (e.g. theFederationofEnterprises inBelgium,the Belgian Deposit-Guarantee System, the International Chamber ofCommerce,...)andEuropeanparties,includingpolicymakers,supervisoryauthorities,tradefederationsandinterestgroups,suchasforinstancetheEuropeanBankingFederation(EBF),theEuropeanAssetManagementAssociation(EFAMA),theEuropeanMortgageFederation,theEuropeanPaymentsCouncil(EPC).

Febelfin informs and advises its members on legal, tax, prudentialand industrial relations issues as well as on technical product matters. Other important tasks are image building and communication.

We give our members inspiration that should help them to create a more sustainablebankingandfinancialsector,along-termanswertosocialandeconomicneedswithintheEuropeanandworldwidecontext.

We do this by stimulating all our members and their customers to make theirambitionsarealityandtoinvestinthefutureoffinance.Wearetheirvoice,avoicethatisclearandmakesitpossibletocreateandmaintainan open dialogue with our members and the sector as a whole. 5.2Membershipfees x The annual fee to be paid by a Febelfin associate member

The fee for associatemembers is freely negotiated. It depends on theservice provision agreed upon (circulars, participation in Committees/WorkingGroups).

x The annual fee to be paid by the member banks of ABB-BVBTheannualfeetobepaidbythememberbanksofABB-BVB/Febelfiniscalculatedonthebasisofthesumoftwoparts:

First part

Thefirstpartisthe‘traditional’partofthefee,i.e.theparttobepaidbyeachmember bank as its contribution to the financing of the ‘ordinary’budgetaryenvelopeofABB-BVB.

•Theformulausedforthecalculation,isthevolumeofcustomerdeposits(withtheexceptionofthecertificatesofdepositandthebondsissuedbythebankitself),moreparticularlytheaveragecustomerdepositsturnoverfor2014-2015-2016asitappearsfromthedatainthepublishedannualaccounts.

•Inaccordancewiththisformula,aratio,withinthelimitsofthispart,willbeaskedfrommemberbanksthedepositsofwhichareequalorsuperiortothe784millionEURthreshold.Inpractice,thesumof12,749.50EURwillbeaskedperbillionEURofdeposits.

•Ifthevolumeofdepositsdoesnotequalorstaysbelowthisthreshold,afixedamountwillbeaskedfromthebankwithinthelimitsofthispartoftheannualfee.TheminimumannualfeetobepaidbybankstoABB-BVBamountsto10,200.89EUR.

Second part

The second part of the annual fee consists of the member banks’contribution to the expenses (140,000 EUR in total) of the EuropeanPaymentsCouncil andSEPA.Theseexpenseswill have to be paid bythemember banks as a proportion of eachmember bank’s share intothefinancingof the ‘ordinary’budgetaryenvelopeofABB-BVB(see theexplanationaboutthefirstpartofthemembershipfee).

The minimum fee (including the special contributions) amounts to10,370.15EUR.
