We may fall into this trap if we try to excuse ourselves as being too busy, or we hold too tightly to our riches, or we seek our own pleasure. We can overcome this temptation by remembering where our treasure is, by seeking things that are above, by not being conformed to the world and by remembering that Jesus has promised us an abundant life.
