RECYCLING AND GARDEN ORGANICS COLLECTION
The 2021 Whitehorse City Council calendar features our recycling and garden organics collections. They are collected fortnightly on alternate weeks on the same day as your garbage. Garbage is collected weekly and all collections continue on public holidays.
Council’s garden organics is an optional, user pays service that provides collection of garden waste that is processed and composted. To order a bin, go to www.whitehorse.vic.gov.au/ order-repair-swap-or-cancel-bins
The Whitehorse municipality is divided into two areas for recycling and garden organics collections. If you are unsure about the area in which your house is located, go to www.whitehorse.vic.gov.au/bin-collection-day to search for your home address or phone Council on 9262 6333.

COMMUNITY TRIBUTE TO OPEN SPACES
This year’s calendar is a little different to previous years. Throughout 2020, Council didn’t have many opportunities to take photos in our community. During the second COVID lockdown, we called for our community to submit photos of Whitehorse’s hidden treasures, whether architecture, flora or fauna, public artwork, or a cultural activity. We were overwhelmed with more than 250 stunning submissions – making the final cut extremely difficult.
Reviewing the beautiful community contributions, we saw that around 90 per cent were of our natural environment. They included birds, native animals, flowers, parkland and stunning landscapes captured across the seasons.
You told us through your submissions that our parks, gardens and nature reserves were never more valued and appreciated than in 2020. Many of us were working from home, students were learning from home and our usual activities were restricted. We all headed outside to savour nature and take exercise, fresh air and sunlight. This calendar is a tribute to the open spaces, beautiful parks and precious bushland of Whitehorse and the moments of peace they gave us during a turbulent year.
We hope you enjoy these stunning photos month on month. We thank everyone who submitted photos.
