As far as we can tell, choirs and choral societies have long been part of the Carmelite Church, Whitefriar St. Although we cannot be certain that they go back as far as 1829, around the time

when the present church was built, we do know that this current professional choir was formed in 2003 and has been performing regularly ever since. Among the many recitals and

performances by the choir, the Christmas Carol Service has been a favourite of the public and a highlight for the choir and soloists alike. One if the reasons for the making of this recording is

because of the huge support the public have shown this Carol Service, year in year out, come hail, rain or snow! This CD is a celebration of that and of the continued commitment of the choir

to keep music alive in the hearts and souls of the community, and what better place to do that than in the resting place of St. Valentine. We hope we have captured some of the spirit that is the

Carmelite Church, and that you enjoy this recording as much as we enjoy performing the Whitefriar Street Christmas Carol Service.
