TODAY the President transmitted to the Congress reports of the Secretary ofDefense and the Secretary of Transportation on cash awards to members of ourArmed Forces for noteworthy suggestions, inventions, or scientific achievement.
TODAY the President transmitted to Congress the Annual Report of the CommodityCredit Corporation for fiscal year 1967,
TODAY the President issued a statement regarding the truth-in-lending bill."The action of the House and Senate Conferees on the truth-in-lending bill is agreat victory for the American consumer. Since I became President, I haverepeatedly recommended a strong truth-in-lending bill to protect theAmerican consumer and tell him how much it costs for the money he borrows.I applaud the yst: action of the conferees and I urge the Hous e and Senate
promptly to make this long over-due measure a reality for the American family."
What prompted this statement was the fact that the tough version of thetruth-in-lending bill was reported out of the House and Senate Conference Committee.
