Hi everyone,
The students & some staff Got Moving ‘Let’s Get Moving’ culminated on Friday with a whole school
performance in front of a healthy school community audience
in excess of 200. Each year level completed a performance
and we even had a brave team of teaching staff take to the
stage.
A huge thanks to the parents and friends who were able to
attend this special presentation. Feedback from the students
has been very positive. Enjoy some photos of this event in
today’s newsletter.
Blues & Roots Opportunity for our budding
rock band! Mr Kaine Marsh, our music teacher has managed to secure a
slot in the Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival which will be an
amazing opportunity for our budding musicians. Once we
receive more information about this exciting opportunity we
will share it through the newsletter.
The choir will also be performing to an audience at Bupa
Aged Care on 22nd June.
Student Led Conferences Hopefully families have booked a time for student led
conferences by signing up to the Parent Portal on our school
management system, Sentral. A yellow note went home
yesterday outlining how to do this. If you need assistance,
please contact the school. So far there has been conferences
booked for approximately 50% of students.
Teachers want to see all parents for student led conferences
and it is a fantastic way to celebrate your child’s successes
from the first half of the year. Your child will be preparing a
presentation for you at this event, so we strongly encourage
parents to make the effort to attend.
Curriculum Day A reminder that tomorrow is a pupil free day as staff will be
having a day of professional learning with a behavioural
analyst.
A reminder that Monday is the Queen’s Birthday public
holiday.
Bentley Is Bald! At assembly this morning, before our multi age day focussing
on STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Mrs
Bree Bentley had her hair cut to raise much needed funds for
cervical cancer research. Bree’s goal was to raise $3000 and
she has exceeded this easily with her total raised nearing
$4000. Congratulation to Mrs Bentley for her bravery and
fundraising efforts. I have included a photo in the newsletter
today.

REPEAT NOTICES
Chinese Immersion Program 2018
We have now had five families who have expressed an
interest to host a Chinese student this year. This means we
can host 2 boys and one girl at this stage. We are still
seeking additional families who might be interested in this
experience in October. The students usually arrive in week
2 of Term 4 and leave in the first week of December.
I am seeking expressions of interest from families of children in Grades 3-6 (can be other grades also) to host a Chinese student for
four or eight weeks during their visit. The Chinese students are 10-12 years old and are in Grade 5. (The Chinese school year
begins in September)
If you are interested, please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter and return it to school or reply by email to
If you would like more information or would like to speak with a family who hosted last year, please feel free to contact me.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you here at WHPS.
