INTRODUCTION You are an important asset to Randstad and, as such, we take all reasonable practicable steps to ensure your health and safety whilst undertaking a Temporary/Contract assignment. Randstad's primary responsibility to you is to pass on all
relevant information provided by the client on any
qualifications and skills you will need in order to do the job
safely and to make you aware of any health and safety
issues connected with the assignment.
Each client is required to treat Temporary/Contract workers
as it would its own employees for all health and safety
matters. This can include making you aware of their Health
& Safety Policy, assessing any health and safety risks
which may affect you and recording any accidents or
injuries that involve you.
CONSULTATION
Randstad is committed to consultations and co-operation with temporaries/contractors on all health and safety issues. The consultation process will involve the sharing of information and the exchange of views to provide the genuine opportunity for all to contribute effectively to the elimination and control of risks. Regular consultation with you provides a free flow of information and gives all employees the opportunity to discuss OH&S issues. CLIENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES All clients are responsible for the provision of a safe working environment; safe systems of work; and ensuring equipment is in a safe condition for use as well as providing such information, instruction, training and supervision as necessary to ensure your safety. You have a responsibility to report any hazards that exist in
the workplace. Randstad can assist the client in ensuring
reported hazards are controlled or eliminated, through
appropriate consultation
SAFETY AND YOU
“No job or task is so important that we can’t take the time to perform it safely” Your safety, and the safety of the people you are working with, depends on your awareness of safe working practices and the need for a safe working environment. Safety is a co-operative effort. Randstad acknowledges its obligations, and the client also has an equal responsibility to provide a safe place to work. You will contribute by having a positive attitude to safety by: making sure you know how to do the job safely
before you commence;
learning that safety is part of the job;
discussing any aspect of job safety that you are concerned about;
Ensure your workstation is appropriately set up by completing a Randstad Workstation Self Assessment Checklist*
Do not use any equipment/machinery or perform any heavy manual task without having received and sign off the relevant safe working instructions.
WORK ACCIDENTS If you are unfortunate enough to suffer any accident resulting in bodily injury or damage to equipment, you must notify your Randstad Consultant and Client Supervisor immediately and provide all relevant details relating to the event. This is critical to enable Randstad to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to you or to the client, and to facilitate the necessary claim lodgement to protect your position. Randstad are committed to returning any injured workers to pre-injury duties as soon as possible. All workers have an obligation to participate in any suitable duties program that assists in your rehabilitation – please make sure your doctor completes a medical certificate indicating any relevant restrictions and a Randstad Injury Management representative will help you gradually integrate back to work. Please Note: Any failure to comply with safe working instructions or injury management direction as they relate to your medical certificate places your assignment in jeopardy.
INDUCTION Randstad places great emphasis on the prevention of work-related accidents and illnesses. The Randstad client with whom you are placed should provide a workplace site-specific induction and workplace specific safety training to ensure that you are familiar with your particular responsibilities on assignment.
