Restoration of the Village Pinfold

The parish council continues to explore the possibility of restoring the village pinfold at the junction of the A52 and Black Lane on the north side of the village. Since the last update the soil samples have been analysed and the results are encouraging in that there are no significant levels of contaminants pre-sent. Now that the contaminants issue has been eliminated, and prior to a planning application being submitted, the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council Planning Consultant has authorised a slit trench exploratory excavation be undertaken to check whether or not additional engineering support is required to the Black Lane carriageway. On Monday 22nd June a slit trench exploratory excavation was undertaken which confirmed that no additional engineering support is required for the Black Lane carriageway. The exploratory excavation has been backfilled and a planning application is now being submitted. If you want to know more about the project then visit the new village website, set up by the Village Hall Committee, at www.whistonvillagehall.co.uk and click on “Links”.
