May 1st through May 31st is your opportunity to make changes to your benefits or enroll in other benefits you may have been considering. Open Enrollment Meetings will be held at department locations throughout the month of May. See the Open Enrollment schedule on the following page. During these meetings we will provide information on benefit changes and new programs.

My overarching goal for Human Resources is to be customer-focused and transparent in everything we do. Whether it is recruitment, employee onboarding, benefits administration, general communication, or providing essential training – my intent is to focus on continuous improvements in all areas of Human Resources. So stay tuned for more to come!

As the new HR Director, I have some exciting things to work on. Over the course of the next few months we will launch a new HR website where we will provide valuable information and tools, we will overhaul our HR policies to better reflect today’s organizational needs, and we will launch an Employees’ University dedicated to providing our workforce with professional learning and development opportunities.

We are lucky to have low turnover here at the City, but we do have employees who move on to other job opportunities. It is important to know why people choose to leave our organization. As a result HR will begin offering confidential Exit Interviews to employees who resign from city government.

Departing employees will be encouraged to complete an exit interview either online or preferably, by visiting in-person with an HR representative. Employee comments will be kept anonymous and a summary of the responses will be used by HR to address any organizational concerns.

The exit interview process will be available starting June 1st. Supervisors or departing employees themselves should contact Darlene Harper at 801-535-6607 to schedule an interview. Online interviews will be made available at a later time.
