FLOWER ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: The altar flowers are donated by Magno and Nicole Haigwood in honor of their Matrimony celebrated this weekend. The Our Lady of Grace side chapel flowers were donated by John and Sue Kranyecz in loving memory and in thanksgiving of Mary Lou Bickes and Lucy Kranyecz for their constant support and never-ending love.

Happy Mother’s Day! This past year we have seen so many people who are essential workers raising the bar of professionalism along with true demonstrations of loving others. Included in this group are the Moms of our community. We all know that Moms have a huge responsibility at home caring for their family. For many, they do this while also working outside the home in a variety of capacities. This year also brought the challenge of acting as teacher. With all this in mind, I suggest that no matter how your family celebrates Mother’s Day, be sure that this special person hears how much she is appreciated and loved. For those of us whose Mother is no longer with us, say a prayer of gratitude to God for your Mom.

May blessings follow you through live

Wherever Christ may lead you.

May love be right beside you and

Peace and joy precede you.

May God’s word light your path each day

While grace and patience guide your way.

Amen.

You can still give your Mom the gift of prayer with our Novena of Masses. Just visit the parish website to add the names of the special women in your life.

The dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass will expire with the Vigil of Pentecost on Saturday, May 22nd. Please be

sure to read my email from May 4th or visit the parish website to read Archbishop Hartmayer’s letter and to see the details on how we will increase capacity at Mass and welcome everyone back. Please note,

that the Archbishop recognizes several special circumstances, that are listed on the website, that allows the dispensation to still be in effect for some.

See you at Mass,

Sign up for the next MEN’S CRHP WEEKEND

August 21 & 22, 2021 Take a short break from the routine and be renewed!

“I am writing this because I want to remind you of the great future God has for you. I know this because He said so. He says you have not seen, nor heard, nor even imagined anything as great as what He has prepared for you. And, for me, it all started with Christ Renews His Parish. It was a life-changing experience. The way I feel and think about myself and others now is 1000 times better. I’m a radically different person because I met Jesus one weekend through faith-filled men. I am grateful beyond words for that experience. Consider joining us for a weekend that hopefully will affect your life as positively as it has mine.”

Pope Francis Prayer Intention

Come Further Up, Further In! A series by Deacon Mike Bickerstaff

Jesus tells his apostles in John 15:12, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” Jesus is preparing His Apostles for His departure and the coming of the Holy Spirit. These are among His final words of instruction. These words must be important. Do we love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and do we love one another as Jesus loves us (see Luke 10:27)? If we say that we love Jesus, we must take seriously these words of His. We must be people of love. Jesus deems it essential that His Apostles get this right… and so must we, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you… love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:9,12). If we are going to be His disciples… if we are going to say that we love Jesus, He tells us that we must be people of love! And more because love manifests through and guides our lives and actions! Did you pray yesterday? If not, why not? Does it seem like you just don’t ever have time to pray? Did you spend more time watching television than praying? Spend time with Jesus – the one you love! We must be people of prayer! We either attract people to Christ or drive them away by the examples of our lives. In the ordinary happenings of daily life... how do we treat others? How do we behave? We must be people of testimony and service, giving tangible witness to the love of Christ in the world. Who do people see when they see you? Do they see the Lord? Who do people see when they look at you? Who do you see when you look at me? God knows that all too often, when people look at me, they do not see Him. So, to those who see me and not the Lord when they look at me, I ask you to forgive me… and to pray for me… for those times that I failed to be Jesus for you. Can we all do that for one another? We must be people who reveal Christ! All this is possible by grace, through faith. Pray the Holy Spirit to come upon you and empower you to live each day in love so that when people look at you, they see Jesus.

Adult Sacraments?

“Our hearts are restless until they rest in You, O Lord” St. Augustine

Are you uncertain about taking steps on a path

that leads to Sacraments? Wondering what that

path might look like for you? We invite you to

a conversation regarding the RCIA process,

where adults grow in their knowledge and

understanding of God and discern Sacraments.

God calls each one of us to a deeper

relationship with Him, and often times our

response to His call is recognized as a yearning

in our hearts, or as St. Augustine states, a

restless heart. God will lead you to the peace

and joy you are seeking. Let us know how we

can help!

HAVE YOU REMEMBERED ST. PETER CHANEL IN YOUR WILL?

You may think this is an odd question at this time, but it is exactly times like these that remind us to be prepared. We are reminded of how important community is for us—present and future. For me, one of the things to confirm is that I have St. Peter Chanel listed in my Will. So I did check and I do have St. Peter Chanel listed. Do you? It is a very simple process. The Catholic Foundation of North Georgia can advise you on the correct language you should use—and any other questions you might have.

FAITH FORMATION for FAMILIES

Sixth Sunday of Easter

Jesus commands his disciples to love one another. John 15:9-17

In family life, we have many opportunities to show love in action. Each time we postpone a task to tend to the needs of another, we

show ourselves to be on the path to following the example of love shown to us by Jesus. Sometimes the sacrifices we are called

upon to make for others are small. But these small choices to love and to serve others prepare us for the larger choices and

sacrifices that we may be called upon to make. If we are people who have practiced showing our love for others with generosity,

we will also be people who are willing to lay down our lives for those we love.

As you gather as a family, talk about the meaning of the word generosity. Ask each family member to describe an action that shows

generosity. To be generous is to give freely to others without counting the cost. Recall that generosity is one of the Fruits of the

Holy Spirit. Introduce today’s Gospel reading by saying that Jesus taught us to be generous in showing our

love for one another. Read together today’s Gospel, John 15:9-17. What examples did Jesus give to us that

show this kind of love? (washing his disciples’ feet; accepting death on the cross) Jesus helps us to show this

kind of love to others. In today’s Gospel, Jesus promised that God will give us whatever we ask for. One of

the things we can ask for from God is a generous spirit so that we can love others as Jesus did.

Reflection shared from the Loyola Press Sunday Connection

Teen Volunteer Registration! Will happen when more adults sign up to help.

Make this a summer together! Parent/Teen sign up together

(you don’t have to be in the same station together!)

Adults: If you are interested in volunteering with or without your teen, contact Rebecca by email

([email protected]). Once we have the adults, we will be able to move forward with

plans for Wilderness Escape!

At this time, we are unable to determine the number of campers & volunteers we will be able to safely accommodate.

In order to make this opportunity available to as many families as possible, we are offering our 2021VBS theme Wilderness

Escape twice this summer. We ask that at this time you only register for ONE session. If we have availability during another

session, we will release the form at that time.

TEEN VOLUNTEERS: We know this is popular service for our teens! Right now, we need to get campers registered &

adults before we can address the number of teens we can safely accommodate. We will be sure to keep you posted– so watch the bulletin and future emails with information on teen

volunteer registration.

6th Sunday of Easter “This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” - John 15:12-13 Do you love Jesus? Do you consider Him your friend? Jesus says that if we love Him we would be willing to offer whatever we have to Him, not because we want praise and glory, but simply because we love Him. Does your giving seem mechanical out of obligation or do you share freely out of love?

POST ABORTION TREATMENT AND HEALING Has Abortion affected your life? Anyone who is grieving as a result of an abortion— whether recent or many years ago—is welcomed by Post Abortion Treatment and Healing (PATH). We assure you of a safe place to address fears, anger and confusion as well as complete confidentiality. Our mission is to help bring people towards forgiveness, healing, and to a renewed and closer relationship with God. PATH is here to help. PATH will be facilitating a Rachel’s Vineyard weekend retreat, June 11-13. This weekend retreat helps women and men who are struggling with the grief of abortion find peace and inner healing. Jesus is waiting with open arms for you to come to him for healing. We will be following both the CDC and Rachel’s Vineyard COVID-19 guidelines.
