    Wheres Your Treasure?Whats Important?

Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth ,where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break throughand steal:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven , where neither

moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break throughnor steal:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

It is so easy to get caught up in trying to acquire wealth and

position in this life. A person can lose perspective on what isimportant. Jesus said it is almost impossible for a rich person to besaved.

Matthew 19:23-24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I sayunto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through

the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdomof God.

Luke 6:24 But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

The rich have already received theyre consolation or reward.Love for earthly wealth robs a person of spiritual wealth. Even if one does acquire wealth, so often the heart is still empty. Money isa poor substitute for the rich relationship a man can have with T HE LORD .

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one,and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Mammon means wealth. The things of eternity are so much moreimportant than the temporal things of the earth. To have our

priorities in the right thing is so important. Am I saying that towork is not important? No, working for our livelihood is important,it helps in our discipline and spiritual development. Labor ishonorable and gives worth to money.

Talmudic Saying - Who is a rich man? He, who is happy with hislot in life.

Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on

    the earth.

Proverbs 15:6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure : butin the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

Proverbs 15:16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD than greattreasure and trouble therewith.

Proverbs 21:20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in thedwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

Oil in the bible has a symbolic implication, oil means spiritual understanding , so, oil is in the dwelling of the wise. The ultimatetreasure to be desired is an eternal spiritual body and to live withTHE LORD forever in eternity.

Isaiah 33:6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is histreasure .

When a young rich man asked Jesus what must I do to be saved.Jesus replied.

Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said untohim, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: andcome, take up the cross, and follow me.

Notice it says Jesus beholding him loved him. Jesus showed theman the narrow way that leads to salvation, the invitation wasgiven, but declined.

Mark 10:22-27 And he (the young rich man) was sad at thatsaying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples,

How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus

answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than

for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among

themselves, Who then can be saved?27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible,

but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

The key phrase being them that trust in riches. Trust in riches is afalse trust. Riches cant save but can hurt & hinder the soul.

Mark 4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches , and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

1Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and asnare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men indestruction and perdition.

To put our trust and desires toward earthly riches and wealthdistracts from the things of G OD .

Luke 12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is notrich toward God.

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain thewhole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give inexchange for his soul?

1 Timothy 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it iscertain we can carry nothing out.

I love how these two scriptures dovetail.

Job 1:21 (Job) said, Naked came I out of my mothers womb, andnaked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hathtaken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Naked came I, naked leave I. What do any of us have to offer theGOD that created the heavens? Answer: Our dedication to H IM .

Matthew 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for

joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

THE LORD offers the greatest treasure to be had, eternal life in fullhappiness with confidence. What more could anyone desire?

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the eviltreasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of theabundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Our words have impact, be careful what you say!

Luke 12:33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves

bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

Once a person possesses the treasure , the word of G OD, no one canever harm you. They might kill you, but they can never harm you.

Luke 12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart bealso.

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that

the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

May T HE ALMIGHTY be praised, the congregation said, Amen!
