WeeJAM Summer Slam Deadline for Registration & Volunteer Sign Up: Today, Sunday, July 24th

This is an important update as well as pertinent information concerning the WeeJAM Summer Slam scheduled for our Preschool and Kindergarten age children on July 28 & 29. We all realize that events like the WeeJAM Summer Slam take an enormous amount of time, planning and even monetary resources to make it all that it can be. Along with that, we must also agree that there needs to be adequate numbers of participation and volunteers to be successful.

Presently, there are only 10 children pre-registered for this event, and we do not have all the volunteers needed to successfully make it happen. We could easily have 30 children participate from Towne South alone. So of course, there are concerns about going forward with it. There are many factors that may be contributing to the low numbers of participation, which may include that this is a new summer event for this age group, and that so many of our families travel during the summer. Therefore, we need to extend a pre-registration deadline of Sunday, July 24th, a required participation number of 20 children, and 5 more adult volunteers to continue with the 2016 WeeJAM Summer Slam.

Please know that we completely understand if schedules do not permit participation at this time. The summer is a special time for families, and at times the only time to travel and be with family who live far away. If we do not reach our needed numbers stated above, then we will try again next year, and have as many parents weigh in on the decision concerning the dates as possible. We will let everyone know Monday, July 25th if the WeeJAM Summer Slam is still a go. To register your child, go to https://tsstudents.churchcenteronline.com/registrations/events/35026 To volunteer, email [email protected] or text 619-2592.

Community

August 20th, 8am to Noon This is a community outreach where everyone can get involved in some way. We will need many volunteers in many capacities to make this outreach the blessing and success we hope it will be. One of the ways that just about all of us can help is by cleaning out closets, attics, garages, etc., and then donating the items to the Great Giveaway.

Donated items are needed: from appliances to xylophones! Donations can be dropped off at TSCOC on the days and times listed. This will allow two days for final preparation and organization of the items. This is no doubt a large undertaking, but with many hearts and hands involved it can be an incredible BLESSING to so many! We need your hands to help make the Giveaway a success. Please sign up to volunteer! Drop off dates:

Sunday August 14, 12:15 - 2pm August 15 and 16, 9am - 5pm, 6:30 - 8pm Wednesday August 17, 9am - 5pm

Great Opportunity in August - Good Grief Ministry Johnny and Beverly Herbst will be with us on August 14-16 to help us learn to cope with grief. Johnny and Beverly both lost their spouses to cancer in 2012. Two years later they married and realized they had unique circumstances that they could share with others through Good Grief Ministry. Their desire is to help those grieving through sharing Biblical truth, practical tips, and personal testimony. Johnny has served for years as a minister (Jonathan Snoots is one of his Timothies) and Beverly served years as a school counselor.

Johnny will preach on Sunday morning. The seminar will be on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm. PLEASE use your personal relationships with people in other churches to invite them to this very valuable and helpful seminar.

Smith Baby Shower! Everyone is invited to a baby shower given for Courtney and TJ Smith on

Saturday, August 13th at Towne South from 2 - 4pm. They are registered at Target. If you plan to bring a card, it would be fun to replace it with one of your favorite old or new books with a message inside

to baby Smith. Please RSVP Vickie Owney at 312-9348.
