WHY MY HEART IS BROKEN.

Christianity is supposed to be the answer. The hope of the world. The defence of the weak, the feeder of the poor.

Christianity is supposed to be God’s answer to injustice, a river of grace and mercy for a difficult, ruthless world.

But instead of all those things, we have become selfish and lazy.Christians spend more time arguing about whether or not they have to go to church to be a Christian, hate giving to expand the kingdom and will leave a church if they are expected to actually make the world a better place.

We are more consumed by judging fellow man than helping fellow man. Most Christians are more affected by a picture of two men holding hands than two starving children holding out theirs.

WHY MY HEART IS BROKEN.

Christianity is supposed to be the answer. The hope of the world. The defence of the weak, the feeder of the poor.

We follow salaries, not causes. We give sparingly, not generously. We stand by while people bow under the weight of poverty and we don’t even try to make a difference.

My heart is broken because the workers are few.My heart is broken because my brothers and sisters have the cure to all of the world’s problems, yet do nothing. My heart is broken because I have to beg and plead with people to make disciples as Christ commanded.

My heart is broken because so few answer the call to make a difference.

MATTHEW 3:3-123 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” 3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:

“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,‘Prepare the way for the Lord,    make straight paths for him.’”

4 John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. 5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. 6 Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. 9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10 The axe is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

REVELATION 3:1-3

3 “To the angel (pastor) of the church in Sardis write:

These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

REVELATION 3:14 -1814 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

WHY DO WE NEED TO BE ON FIRE?

HEBREWS 12:28-2928 THEREFORE, SINCE WE ARE RECEIVING A KINGDOM THAT CANNOT BE SHAKEN, LET US BE THANKFUL, AND SO WORSHIP GOD ACCEPTABLY WITH REVERENCE AND AWE, 29 FOR OUR “GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE.”

YOU ARE THE ANSWER!

John 15

15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

We are the body, the branches, the army of God. Without us springing into action, the world will not change!

WE NEED MORE LABORERS!

Matthew 9:35-38

35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

This is what I am doing today. I am asking. Will you rise up and roll up your sleeves?
