Everyone loves Mrs. Kahl. While walking down the
hall, you hear, “Mrs. Kahl is so funny!” or “Mrs.
Kahl did this!”, and of course with the Freshmen
fundraiser, “Rockin the mustache Mrs. Kahl!” I sat
down with Mrs. Kahl to get the scoop from the
source.
Mrs. Janise Kahl has been working at Green-
wood High School for 24 years. Why does she still
come to school everyday after that long? It’s quite
simple. She loves her job. She loves the children,
and she loves teaching. Mrs. Kahl teaches math,
and her favorite class to teach is Trigonometry.
This class is combined with some of the Geometry
classes.
Students find Mrs. Kahl so funny when she says
“perturbing.” What perturbs her? Gum, especially
when people chew like cows. Her cats chasing each
other at home also perturbs her, as well as lame
excuses for homework not being done, her Smart-
board, technology in general, mornings, student’s
luggage in the isles, and of course, her squirrels.
Mrs. Kahl works three jobs including teaching at
Greenwood, HACC, and working in the deli at Weis.
She doesn’t have much free time, but when she
does, she likes to travel. She loves to travel to Flor-
ida to listen to her son in his recitals. She also likes
to camp, go to the
beach, and visit family
and friends. Mrs. Kahl
also enjoys taking care
of her two cats, two
lizards, and three
birds.
Mrs. Kahl’s shoes
are also popular sub-
jects of talk. Most peo-
ple have heard of
when she fell while
walking with Mr.
Folk when she was
wearing her crocs, but most people love her Birken-
stocks. Mrs. Kahl owns thirty pair of these shoes.
She loves these shoes because they are supportive
to her feet since she has bad knees and a bad
back. They also match all her outfits and are classy.
If you want a pair of shoes like Mrs. Kahl has, you
can get some at the QVC Outlet store.

Every year Greenwood holds two Pink Out games and a pink out day where the entire school wears pink. All of this is to support and raise awareness for breast cancer. On October 9 was the soccer game and on October 10 was the where everyone dressed in pink and on October 11 was the girls field hockey game.
The Greenwood cheerleaders and coaches designed a pink out t-shirt to sell and all the pro-ceeds went to Susan G. Coleman. Not only did they sell t-shirts but you could also buy a breast cancer bracelet that said Strength, Hope, Faith or Survivor. All in all the school raised _________ to send in for the search of the cure for breast cancer.
On October 9 the soccer team played
_______. They won with the score being ____ to
____. On October 11 the girl’s field hockey team
played _______. They also won with the score be-
ing ______ to ______. The field hockey players
made pink tie-dye t-shirts to wear for warm-ups
that night and also got hot pink, sparkly head
bands for during the game. They even went and
got hot pink shoe laces for their cleats. The cheer-
leaders even got pink pom poms to cheer with for
these two games.

Red Ribbon week is all about anti-
drugs. It’s trying to convince people
that drugs are bad and can ruin your
life. It’s the week of October 20-
October 28. Mrs. Jones, the head of
the Red Ribbon Week committee,
Taylor Winters, Joe Sheaffer, Tristen
Rumbaugh, Jenna Matter, and Truman Grimm all
were all apart of making the week come together.
Candy and wristbands were given out at the
lunches. On Friday, students were to wear red in
support of this cause.
GAA (Greenwood Athletic Association) is holding another one of their famous food drives. The food drive is their main service activity done to help less fortunate people, although some money goes to help with the athletic equipment here at Green-wood. This special event is held primarily around Christmas time. GAA buys hams that will be sent out to all of the families. Students are also encour-aged to bring in non-perishable items that can be sent out to families. FFA also helps the food drive by offering fruit that will be sent to different fami-
lies. It’s a wonderful thing that they are doing here and I hope everyone could try to bring at least one item in. If you would like any more information you may speak to Mr. Houser or to the President of
GAA, Brittany Fleisher.

Soccer: We are the Champions! By Joseph Sheaffer
The Greenwood boys’ soccer team made it to the District Championship last year, where they fell short of
the gold. Spurred on by last year’s incomplete sea-son, the Cats avenged their loss. Greenwood cruised to a 3-1
advantage over Biglerville in this year’s District Championship. Led by a core group of seniors all year, the Wildcats
had a very successful season. The soccer team made it into the quarterfinals of the state tourna-ment.
Field Hockey Team Reaches State Final Four By Joseph Sheaffer
Throughout the season the Greenwood field hockey team has run through many opponents. They cruised
through the district tournament, reaching the championship. The ladies lost a heartbreaker to Oley Valley in a game
that went through two overtimes and penalty strokes until a champion was eventually crowned. Inspired by the
tough loss, the Wildcats fought through the state tournament to the semifinals. With only Crestwood standing
between the girls and a berth to the state champi-onship, the team showed up to play. A well fought game needed
two overtimes to determine a winner. Late into the second overtime, Crestwood squeaked a goal past the Wildcats.
Although the loss was hard to take, the girls had a magnificent season to proud of.
