Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival Date: Friday 15th to Sunday 17th March 2013 The Mooloolaba Triathlon celebrates its 21st year in 2013 and will attract upwards of 6,500 age group and team competitors along with approximately 30,000 spectators. Catering for competitors of all abilities and age groups, the Mooloolaba Triathlon has grown into one of the largest Olympic Distance triathlon events in Australia. The Mooloolaba Triathlon is the centrepiece of a three-day multisport festival, the Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival, which celebrates the best of the Australian summer lifestyle, at one of the world's premier beachside resort locations. Along with the world famous Mooloolaba Triathlon, the festival also includes the Asics Mooloolaba five kilometre Twilight Run, Mooloolaba Sport and Lifestyle Expo, Mooloolaba Ocean Swim and the Mooloolaba Superkidz Triathlon. There's no better place for a triathlon than Mooloolaba. With that world famous beach as the backdrop, the heart of the Sunshine Coast really does open its arms to this annual extravaganza. This 21st anniversary is an absolute testament to just how popular this has become. The triathlon itself will be run on Sunday March 17, beginning at 6.30am. The 1500m swim will take place off Mooloolaba Beach, the cycle will last 40km and the 10km run will take in a two lap course along the Mooloolaba Esplanade. You couldn't ask for a better setting.

With a history of successful singles being played on television and radio, performances with Australian Idols and tours throughout Australian and the world, Off the Leash band members have an impressive list of achievements. Off the Leash is a Brisbane band with Tim Shaw playing guitar, Alan Vee playing Bass, Jules Keshan on Drums and Dave French on vocals and guitar. This band is refreshing. They play live with no backing tapes and no gimmicks. Their set list includes a diverse range of no nonsense music from Aerosmith to U2 including hits from all the big rock names like Bon Jovi, Queen, Eagles, Dire Straits, Foo Fighters, Santana, INXS, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and more. Craig Martin Swing Band Hits Sunshine Coast Date: Saturday 16th March 2013 Since exploding onto the Queensland music scene in 2010, contemporary swing star Craig Martin has performed and thrilled audiences at many top venues including The Arts Centre Gold Coast, Twin Towns Show Room, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Logan Entertainment Centre, Redland Performing Arts Centre and Brisbane Jazz Club. This modern day crooner, originally from Liverpool England, has performed with many of the UK’s leading big bands including their premier band ‘The Syd Lawrence Orchestra’. This talented entertainer cleverly combines traditional and contemporary swing with great flair and imagination. He is a natural on stage, performing many of his own arrangements of the jazz and swing classics with a style unique to him. A Touch of Irish Concert

People who enjoy Irish music are in for a treat at 2pm on Saturday 16th March (the day before St Patrick's Day) when the Sunshine Coast Concert Band present "A Touch of Irish" concert at Sienna College, Sippy Downs. This 40 piece band under the baton of Ken Chadwick OAM will have toes tapping (and perhaps even dancing in the aisles) to lively familiar tunes, including "Dear Old Donegal" "Lord of the Dance" "MacNamara's Band" "Irish tune from County Derry" and of course, "It's a Great Day for the Irish" . There'll also be swing numbers, such as "Mack the Knife" and "That's Life", and as

usual, a Dixie group will wow the audience! The singers are Bev Gourlay, Aart Schouten and Dave Stygall, and the compere is one of 104.9 FM's favourite announcers - John Sheed. Admission is $15 at the door, which includes a home-baked afternoon tea provided by the parents of the Nambour Special School, who will received the proceeds from this concert. Children are encouraged to attend, and they'll be admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets can also be booked at either the Old Buderim Post Office (King St. Buderim) or at the Nambour Special School office (Phone 5476 6100). Sienna Catholic College is at 58 Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs, and is adjacent to, and west of, the University of the Sunshine Coast. Rocking Time with Industry of Kool Date: Friday 22nd March, 2013 If you fancy a bit of rock this weekend then your destination should definitely be the Tewantin-Noosa RSL to see one of the Coast’s top rock party bands, Industry of Kool. This Sunshine Coast band has developed a strong fan base that keep coming back for more of the band’s cool sound! All of the band members take a turn at lead vocals ensuring they cover a wide selection of the rock genre including classic rock, medley’s, rock ballads, sing-along’s and 60’s Rock’n’Roll through to songs from the rock icons of the 80’s. Their diversity is fantastic appealing to a wide audience, with Elvis Presley, Counting Crows, Good Charlotte, Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham, AC/DC, INXS and Ray Charles, just a small selection of the performers they cover. With Rory Quinlan on bass, Ben Richards on guitar, Dave O’Keeffe on keyboard/piano and Keith Stevenson on drums, they each bring their own style and influences and blend it into one very versatile band with over 100 years’ experience between them. Known for his incredible ability to deal with hot topics in a hilarious and slightly offensive way, Akmal promises this year to deliver a show that is punctual and jam-packed with words… some of which he will be using for the first time. One of Australia’s most respected and accomplished comics, Akmal draws on his Arabic heritage, his experiences immigrating to Australia at the age of 11, and his disillusionment with religion and the modern world to deliver a stand-up show that is fresh, honest and ridiculously funny. Saleh entered the world of comedy in 1990 under the alias Peter Saleh (“so people would think I was white”, he says). Since then he’s performed in movies, on TV and as a regular radio and talk show host, and has written a book about his journey from Egypt and his life as an Arab on the Australian comedy circuit. As a stand-up he’s performed at Festivals all around the world including Edinburgh, and has won numerous awards, including an ARIA for his DVD Live and Uncensored.
